If I may...

I learned to set up in a triangle, a bit off of center.
Then I can pull a bucket sized 'line' to the tractor, X3, cutting roots as I dig.
If need be, swing out to smaller diameter to break.

Flood/soak overnight!

I like a 4 foot high minimum for leverage.

When roots around are cut, move away and use upside down bucket (last boom? at near level) on high stump to rock.
When one side/angle rocks, pull it down, leave it and fill in other side before pulling back up from that other side (creates leverage as you work).

Hope it helps!

Brimfield, I believe that you have a BH77 backhoe on that L3800, which is the same backhoe I have on my L3200. I have a video on You Tube showing how I removed a stump from an Oak tree on my property which was about the same size your talking about. Just go to You Tube and type in the search (L3200) and you will see the video by "the smurf402" . You should have no problem attacking a stump that size.....Just take your time and have fun!:smurf:

Be prepared to dig a pretty big hole just to get out a small stump, here is a hole I had to make with my B21 to get out 2 smaller oaks that were side by side. But it was fun digging!!!
