A rather large log slipped thru my forks and hit the hood causing a 5 inch or so crack in the summer of 2014. In the proximity of the hinge assemble and was concerned about it spreading. Used Loctite plastic epoxy formulation along with fiberglass matt for an underside surface patch. Roughed up the surface with a rasp bit and applied. Pleased to report that it痴 still holding at 3 yr plus---not always the case with such products.

I'm glad to see this. Hopefully I never have to do this, but its nice to see that it can be done. I'm always amazed at how the hinge mounts to this hood look just a little like the packaging for a Big Mac. My 4600 hood looks the same. My hood was so cracked up when I got my machine that it was not usable. When the new hood came I was thinking it might be smart to fiberglass the entire underside. But then, the whole new hood was about $350, so I figured if I could go 10 years and then just put a new hood on for that price, maybe it's not all that bad.
