Im thinking of building a log splitter for my t-5c. Take the bucket off the hoe and put on the splitter. I know i will have to add a valve. Im just wondering how much weight the hoe will pick up. I don't want to build this and then not be able to do what i want.

Thanks
jim

Seems like I saw somewhere in specifications #750.

I believe Matt W is correct 750 pounds sounds about right.

I can't remember where I found that. I looked it up when I was deciding to build the thumb, I haven't got around to yet. 750 isn't huge but is a lot more than I can lift. I would guess with 750 on the rear boom you would need a full front bucket to steer. When my 2 foot bucket is humped full of damp clay my front is real light until I can get some in the front, then take off with both buckets full.

So back to pontiac58's original question. The 750 from the spec sheet must be with the outriggers down. I would bet you won't be driving around with that kinda weight on the hoe. Assuming a weight of # 110 for wet clay per cubic foot, and from Sam's spec sheet, my 24" bucket holds 2.4 cubic feet that's #264 plus a wild estimate of #100 for the bucket. Even if I overload the bucket, probably not going to have over #400 and my front end will be too light to steer without loaded front. Lifting with the stabilizers as fulcrum or with the rear tires as fulcrum will be very different.

Maybe experiment (move around) a little with increasing known weight before starting the build.
