I have a C174 and would ;like to know how it handles a loader , here in South Africa , so far only used the rotovator which works very well, think it is an amazing little tractor

If you install a loader, you need to have a subframe. The clutch housings are not very strong & will break.

Our church bought a 1980 Allis Chalmers 5020 new to mow the grass...
2800 hours later it is still going strong...
Hinomoto was the manufacturer...
Darn thing still uses no oil...
They were very good units...
Don't know if parts are available...
Ours never needed any...

I know you posted this clear back in 2006. Are you still a member? I just bought a Hinomoto E1804. I was a fool for not doing a thorough search for this brand of tractor and for not having this one in particular checked out more thoroughly. The guy already had it running when I got there (I should have told him to wait until I got there to start it as I wouldn't have bought it) so I didn't know about the hard starting problem. Took it over to a fuel systems outfit where they checked the compression. Low compression on all cylinders and the guy said it only has 1100 hours on it. Yea right. I'm going to try to get him to take it back but don't really think I'll have much luck. You said friend of yours got the part you needed for a reasonable price? Do you still have this tractor and do you still have the source for the part(s)? I've done some research both on the tractor forums and on the net and come up with a list of places where I will try to either get parts to rebuild the engine or maybe if they aren't a million dollars, buy either a short block or better yet, a long block for it. But I'm probably dreaming there. Could you let me know if you know where a person could get one of these Toyosha engines? I'm not a mechanic so getting a whole engine would be way better for me.

I just picked up a little E14d that I needed parts for and found this company in Las Vegas. The salesperson is very knowledgeable about these little units, and helped me out with a couple of parts I needed. If you haven't run the tractor for a time, it might be that the rings are just stuck, and a fresh change of oil ( I used the fancy new synthetic 5w-40 Rotella) might get the little thing going. A working glow plug system is a must. These use a parallel 12v system glow plug, unlike the B275 that I have that for some reason wired them in series). You should be able to test them with a VOM. They are so inexpensive that it might give you peace of mind to just replace them all. That, and a well primed pump should get you going. If not, check the cost of rings here HINOMOTO :: E1802/ E1804 :: ENGINE - NCW Tractor Parts & Tractor Supply Store - Compact Tractor Parts

Changing the rings is just waist of time. You need to change liners togather with the rings, also the head gasket.
To change liners no chances to do by it your sell, need to find company who sepcialises on liners.
After such repalcement tractor will run many year with approriate lookup. Done this to many gray market tractors, trust me.

I know that this is an old thread. The tractor pulls better than many larger tractors. But I agree that parts are hard to find. I recently purchased a Hinomoto e23. And I need to know where I can find some brake shoes. I know that I will need them soon. And don't want to be caught without a source. Also, I MAY need a steering gear soon. HELP!!

Hinomoto was bought by Hitachi. The rumor that Kubota bought them came during a time when Hinomtos were just rebadged Kubotas specifically the NX series. I like the N and C series but have discontinued selling any E models due to the aluminum bell housings and on some models the unsupported cone pivot front axels. Models without the lower brace on the cone cannot handle a loader.

Happy new year!
