Nice job finishing it off!! The paint and windows really give it a homey sort of look.

I built a 18'x20' one myself, forget the manufacturer.

I made a second floor inside by putting 4x4's into the indented parts of the panels (cut with a couple of angles to fit snugly) then got some 2/12 manufactured joists to run from one 4x4 to the other side. Then covered that on top with 4x8' sheets of tongue in goove panels.

I looked around and that composite joist type stuff is the only thing for long unsupprted runs.

Looks good. Have you put a heating source in? If so, what type?

M7,
nice job!
pretty doumbek in the one photo, too!
I've considered building one of these kits to do the shop/apartment gig as well - and like the solutions you came up with. (I've also looked at the pole barn style of construction, too - still undecided which I like better)

will definitely look forward to pictures of the log house as it goes up.
what does a woodbug chainsaw mill look like? is it similar to the Gransberg mills?

I have enjoyed the construction of the steel master building. I have a steel master 30x40 A type building...been sitting in storage for about 8 years. Guess I will have to get it up...your project looks great! I am thinking of putting mine up on a 2-3 foot block wall, to accomadate some taller equipment.

ErikinHoyt, I have a 40 X 60 that I built and live south of Lecompton, you're welcome to come and have a look if you like and I can give you some pointers on building one.

I see you used some form of sprayed insulation. What is it? Did you do it yourself?

Dog,I think we are going to wedge an electric fire place in there someplace. Originally i wanted a wood stove, but we decided against it. The space is so small, it would be hard to regulate the temp with wood.

Erik,Yep, similar to a Granberg. Try woodbug.com (no www.) They seem to be outa business but the web site is still there to give you an idea.

Lev, i wish i had gone 2' taller, the loft is a little low for me @ 6'4". I have seen a few on footers & it looks fine.

Psj, i was gonna do it myself, but a local guy did it for the same price($1,200). It's about 2 inches thick & is rated around an R-17. The difference it made was amazing. I wish i could afford to do the shop side, but that will have to wait.
