Sorry bout the JD wagon....it works nice w/ the BH. I attach it to the step, with the boom swung over. The thumb works very well for grabbing logs. I have become quite competent sitting forward and reaching around to the BH controls to grab a log. You can back parallel and grab in the carry position or park perpendicular and swing it around either way.

Very nice set up for moving and cutting wood. One could just cut up the wood up while it's still in the thumb! No bending over or hitting the dirt with the chainsaw. Also a very nice stand of woods in the pictures.

Yes, I've tried that and it works well. As you saw up to the bucket you can just move to the other side or set it down and regrab further down the log. I was very pleased with how much I can do with it. I can't wait to get the grapple for the front!

I do the same thing here!! I had woods cleared for our pasture. I have broken down two piles alraedy and only have one left. I drag each log off, burn the brush, and save anything worth keeping to burn in the fire place. When I get a few logs, I thumb them onto a trailer and move them to another area to cut, split and stack.

Man, now I'm *really* envious!

I've been doing a lot of log moving of late, and had planned to get a back hoe sometime in Feb. when the annual bonus came out. Now they are talking about canceling the bonus (better than people losing jobs, I guess), and then last week my septic tank finally caved in. The $4k to replace that would almost get me a backhoe...

I try to stick to green, that's my favorite. I have respect for all other brands though, and ya'll have some really nice tractors!

Buy the backhoe, and you can replace your own septic tank (for $750-$1500 depending on size). That alone would pay for about half of the 'hoe.
