I apparently have the wrong quick attach for my L3130, LA513.

When I contact the dealer tomorrow I am going to suggest he let me trade the quick attach (L2231A) and the bucket (L2234) for the direct pin (L2243) and a tooth bar. I am wondering what the prices are for each item.

I don't have another attachment for the loader boom and I don't see gettting one. Maybe a direct pin bucket will be better for me. The L3130 has 3.3 hours on it;I discovered the tilt cylinders were hitting the boom when I dump the bucket as a result of the incorrect quick attach.

Anyone like a direct pin bucket better? Is there an advantage to a direct pin bucket other than not have to deal with a quick attach unit? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I believe that you should keep the Quick Attach and just have him get you the proper one. In the end, you will be much happier if you ever decide to add another accessory to the tractor. I know that at present, you don't see the need for it, but you never know what the future will bring. It will also add to the resale value of the tractor in the future. I know that a lot of us say that we will never sell the tractor, but as we all know, we won't live forever, but the tractor can live on way past our lifetime. It will make it more desirable which translates into more $$$$ at some time in the future. Just have the dealer put the correct parts on and buy the tooth bar out of pocket. They are not that much money and if you go the way that you suggest in your post, you will be short changing yourself immediately and in the long run.

If your dealer is like mine he will say "Toothbar??? What is a toothbar and where would I get it?"

Buy your own tothbar from Markham Welding , you will get it about 2 days after you order it and only have to drill 2 1/2" holes in the bucket to mount it.

Tell the dealer to get the right bucket for your loader.

Be sure to wait until you get the correct bucket before calling Markham. They will need to know the inside width of the bucket and will make the bar 1/2" shorter than that measurement so it will fit correctly.

I have toothbars that are shipped direct from the manufacture to you. Reasonably priced.

Hello smittyd3,

Get the Quick Attach, it is the only way to go.

I haven't needed a tooth bar, I guess Michigan dirt is soft compared to other states. Mostly sandy loam. I do have a cutting edge.

see if you can trade for the la723 with quick attach. I went out to Bobcat & bought a couple of skid steer plates & I have been making everything adapted to skid steer. I am in the middle of makng my york rake that i used to use on my 3 pt hitch now mount on my loader so i dont have to remove my backhoe all the time. I will just rake in reverse of spin the rake around. The benifits to quick attach is endless.

I hear what you all are saying.

I contacted the dealer today and they have the correct quick attach in stock so I will be getting it soon.

But before he brings it to my house and swaps it out,
how much more do you think the LA723 will cost me?

Again thanks for the good advice. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Smitty…. I’m not sure but it sounds like you just bought that tractor? 3.3 hours… If the dealer set you up with the wrong quick tach but now has the proper one in stock, there should be NO additional cost for you… I would think the dealer would owe you at least an apology for the inconvenience. Hi Kenny,

You are right. The tractor is new and the dealer did apologize.
The quick attach unit was for a LA723 loader and mine is a LA513.

I was wondering about how much more the LA723 loader would cost me if I got it and returned the LA513.

Thanks for the reply.

Smitty…
Now I get the picture … The price difference should not be to great, and you will have a lot more loader with the LA723…. The amount may be more dependant on if they sell more larger loaders or the smaller… If they move a lot of the 500 series you may be upgraded rather cheaply. You will never regret having more loader/loader options, than you will need. I would go toward the 700…. KennyV.
Sorry I could not give you $$ guesses. Please post back with results…
