Someone correct me if I am wrong but I thought both the 2210 and 2520 were both made by Yanmar. Just a thought but those two tractors are very similar in power, have you considered moving up to a 2720?

I think you are correct. I know for a fact that the 2720 is made by Yanmar. Yanmar sx3100 and jd2720 are twins. Most compacts for jd were made by yanmar.
The sx3100 has a couple extra features over the 2720. Is the 2720 listed as 31hp? or did they rate it down to 27hp?

The 2720 is rated for 31 hp engine and 23.5 pto hp. This is a good little tractor imo, might buy one yet.

Hi Guys-The 2720 is supposed to be the same tractor as the 2520 except for the two extra horsepower. I had a lot of lost sleep over that, but finally chose the 2520 based on the reviews and the dealer gave me a good deal b/c he had it on the lot. The 2210 was pretty well suited to my mowing and loader needs, but I thought I needed. liitle more weght and power for driveway grading and repair.
Truth be told, it was time for a new toy! I know that two horsepower is going to haunt me, as well as not waiting for thr 2000M's.

Actually, the 2720 is around 4 horsepower more. That could make a difference.

I know I would prefer the 2720 because I would use it for alot of pto work such as tilling and mowing. Whether it is worth it to you would depend on how much time it would save imo. I admit I prefer to have plenty of power in most tractors simply to make the work and motions faster. If you don't use the tractor alot this might not matter more of a judgement call.

I suggest you make a counteroffer...say $8500 or $9000.
As far as the implements, the loader is worth some money, but most other implements don't have a lot of resale value, I'm afraid...some do...chippers do, for example...but most don't.
There's nothing wrong with trying Craigslist...I've bought and sold a variety of items. Just keep them cash transactions.

So did you end up trading it in or selling it?
Just to let you know your owners manual will tell you to check the rear diff. fluid via the site glass.
It does also have a dipstick to check it, following the range shift lever down to where it meets the housing and just forward of that you'll see the dipstick, tough to see but it does have one. I still can't figure out why they wouldn't tell you about it even with it being a pain to get at.

I have decided to go green, although the Yanmar is a fine looking machine. I think I will ask for a bit more for my tractor. I think it is fair that a buyer who is looking to avoid the dealer resale price tag plus sales tax, should be willing to pay a little more than the dealer is offering on the trade in plus the tax benefit i lose by not trading in. That would make it good deal all around.
I am getting those nervous pangs about the HP differential between the 2520 and the 2720 as their foot prints are identical--so why not more power? Well, I thinkthe 2520 will do everything I need just fine, so price and availability will be the ultimate deciding points. I will let all know what one I pick and will give a straight up comparison to the 2210. For the 1026R guys and gals, I do not think you will be dissapointed as its predecessor was good solid performer for me. Moving up in size could be a mistake, but I'm all in now!

I'm very new here.....but I will throw out that there are some very good deals out there if you have the time to look and search. Just paid for my first ever SCUT, been looking for a while as my 1997 CC 2165 with bagger was starting to have a few issues that required some $ to be spent on it. Today my 2005 320 hr 2210 will be delivered (185 miles away, paying $350 for a driver I found on CL). Purchased from original owner, all paperwork including all dealer service records, FEL, MMM, 14 bushel bagger (new fall 2010), Deere ballast box, everyday tow behind aerator, and DRPower pto driven chipper. Can't quite describe how excited i am for a new toy, not sure if it's because of the great deal or because of it being my 1st tractor.
