x2 why didnt you go to a cab?

That is a great tractor and you are a lucky man to own one. My neighbor has one with a loader and loves it. The only thing missing on his is the rear weights and it makes it awkward to handle at times. Does your have cast rear centers ? Congrats on your new M7040.

No cast centers. When it came down to it I bought the tractor on the lot. The trade offer was really why I bought it. I pondered the idea for awhile. I kicked some tires. And I measured Rops folded down.

Originally as I was kicking tires I knew I could not nor would not buy because I wouldn't leave outside. Turns out small option of down exhaust fixes that.

I would love a cab. But original budget of zero combined with above storage issue nixed that. I stretched my money as far as comfy with what I bought.

M5640 was my original thought. The 7040 kept calling me though.

She pulls a 3 bottom plow nice. I just plowed about 15 ac to help break her in.

The plow should be scrapped but it got the job done.

"It got the job done" doesn't sound like a good reason to scrap the plow. That's what it is for!

I'm surprised you left off the FEL bucket or front ballast of some kind when using the plow. My 3-bottom Ford 101 tends to "wag the dog" without front ballast. The difference may be the ground being worked.

This is what I attach to the FEL along with a couple of 100 lb. drill bits to hold down the front.

Nice plow, we found this one several years ago before they got so expensive.

Maybe not quite scrap yet, but close to it. It could use new moldboards and shares. And coulters. And a rear guage wheel. I got what I paid for and then some though. For $100 I have got my moneys worth out of it. I am going to start keeping an eye out for a 3 bottom semi mount. Or either trailing or 3 point with a guage wheel.

Both of those plows look nice.

Isn't it odd that plows generally bring good money at sales. An implement that gets used a couple hours a year at most. And I'm sure most only get used once every few years. I'm looking for a 4 bottom mounted. That is if I can afford it..... ;)

It has been interesting to see plows for sale at $450 that were once only sold for scrap.

We use ours every few years too and the rest of the time it lives in the barn. I would like to have a four bottom too, but don't want to pay what they are bringing.
