Gene, Sorry you had that accident...a couple of times I have smashed my shin into the my trailer hitch and it brought tears to my eyes..so I can only imagine how bad you hurt right now..just know you are not alone...I am really careful now , especially after reading your post...I was told an elbow can be the most painful injury so take it easy and let it heal....

Sat evening had hooked up car trailer to tractor to do Christmas luminary . Just started to walk around my tractor cart that had the sand loaded on foot caught the tongue of cart and down I went . Landed on both knees , more on left knee than the right, plus on concrete, and instead of going clear to the floor with upper body ,right elbow landed on my BIL 200,000 btu torpedo heater, it was not running at time of fall. . Knee all swollen ,black and blue ,grove in middle of knee cap. Elbow about 2 times larger than normal. This morning decided I better find a doctor before lunch being Christmas eve. Went to the Orthopedics office first thing only to find they were closed , headed on to the Emg room. 3-4 hrs later and 9 xrays, no broken bones. One good thing , I think, knowing from past injuries takes a long time to heal. He did suggest taking some pain medicine. That is helping plus icing both about every 2-3 hrs. So setting here doing as little as possible ,till the end of next week and maybe longer. /what a pain HO HO HO.

I've used that before ,and yes it does work. I was taking ibuprofen till I went to the Emg room then Dr gave me a prescription for pain and swelling.

Brin Worst thing about 2 mo ago pulled the tendon between the wrist and elbow. I was just getting better than that, and now hurting between the elbow and shoulder. Swelling is going down some ,no way can I use or planning on using snow or any other type shovel for a few more days or weeks....

As for the trailer tongue ,the cart attached to tractor is the tongue I tripped over. FIL always wanted the tongue as high as the drawbar, even with a 5 ton floor jack setting 2 ft away. Tongue is now down on the floor still can trip over it but not quite as quick.

I can't speak to elbow injuries; but the only time I broke a bone was my right collarbone from a bicycle accident, which was a new adventure in pain and discomfort I don't recommend; and my break was unusual as it was near the thick end of the bone.

Sorry to hear that. I usually hit my shin on my truck hitch, and last year I finally bought the greatest invention. It is a padded cover that goes over your ball hitch. Below is a photo of what it looks like, and a link where you can buy one. Mine was made by Reese, but it is identical to this one, and I guess they were probably making them for Reese, or they bought the patent. It has saved my legs on a number of occasions. That would help save your shin ! Not sure if it a state law , but in Morgantown area, if you have receiver in and no trailer you can get a ticket. ! People walking between vehicles in parking lots are always walking into or tripping over a receiver hitch.
