Trusses for a traditional style barn?

Look for a truss manufacturer and have the trusses designed to fit the building you want. I built a 30'x40' workshop / barn using pre-engineered wood trusses. I've got a 30' clear span with a 16'x40' second floor built into the truss. 30' was about the maximum width to do this with a one piece attic truss. A longer span would require a two piece truss because most manufacturers won't ship anything over 12'6 in width.

I personally prefer that each roof line be the same length, and these lengths are determined by the width of the barn. I guess I just like symmetry.
