I don't know if this is the right forum or not, but here goes...
While cleaning out my late stepfather's barn, we came across several antique (i.e., horse driven) farm implements, which we sent to a local auction house. Everything sold but a Syracuse Plow (Serial # 201 878), which the auctioneer put a reserve price of $250 on.
We are now being pushed to donate this plow to a local agricultural museum as the centerpiece and the recommended value (for tax reasons) we were given was $300.
Is this a fair value for this plow?
I'm a "city kid" and don't know what this would truly be worth but want to be fair.
