Starting a new thread for my new mower, a 2021 Kubota ZD1211 60" side discharge mower.

It had 95 hours when I bought it.

I'll share my experience here amd contrast to other machines I have or have used.

My only modification I have planned so far is to add seat isolators. The ones I bought are found on Exmark mowers (and maybe others I'm not familiar with).

I mowed/scalped the front yard tonight. I'm so glad I went with the diesel, it purrs and is not too obnoxious at all. The foot operated hydraulic deck lift is very nice. I'll have to get my auto-steer calibrated properly, I was leaving skips, the machine is as wide as the deck so your sight picture is totally different, will take some getting used to.

The first pic is when I got it home... the ones with the sunset in the background are from earlier tonight.

Nice machine. Not sure what you're referring to with auto steer though.
I recommend confirming the deck and anti scalp wheel measurements, adjusting as necessary. The larger decks are more prone to scalp when not adjusted correctly, particularly the front anti scalp wheels.
Enjoy the mowing season with your new machine!

The auto steer comment was my bad attempt at humor :) I'm just not used to driving this thing straight and not leaving a skip between my row and the previous pass.

When I learned to cut hay the farmer called them "cat's asses".

You are correct, I do need to fine-tune the anti-scalp wheels. I was cutting very low to get rid of last year's growth and also make it easier to spread sand into some dips and potholes. There were about 5 times I scalped it down to nothing on some humps... The scalp wheels were already set up to their max so I have to adjust them, just couldn't wait to try it out though. :) Not must sunshine left when I get home for work... time change is coming up fast though.

I totally get the need to get out on a test mow. I did the same, but on a customer's lawn prior to adjusting the deck and anti scalp wheels...
I keep the front anti scalp wheels slightly lower than spec, at the expense of the wheels wearing out every 300 hours or so. The 60" deck won't be quite as sensitive to scalping as a 72" deck.

I've never touched mine other than installing the mulch kit on it. I don't have scalp issues with it. I love the deck adjustment and the pedal deck lift. but the mulching capability is the thing it does the best.

I finished the 3d model and cut out the parts on my CNC plasma this morning... this is for the seat base. May be a day or two before I get back in the shop to weld it up, paint, and install.

It's on. Huge pain in the rear. Still have to weld mounts for the bracket that keeps sit from falling forward when lifted.

I'll make a video of it in action, hopefully today.

I'm going to get wcwrything mowed that needs it then pull it apart and paint.

Oh heck yeah I'm keeping it! That thing is amazing, no way it's leaving. I just felt my Kubota collection wasn't complete without a ZD :)

Speaking of collection.... one whole side of my shop is now orange... I suppose I could sell the GR, but it sure is a neat mower and I got a good deal on it, so it will stay. The kids can learn to mow on it first before graduating to something bigger.
