My 20yr old 955 did, but so does my brand new tractor so I'd say it's normal. I've read plenty of other comments about blue smoke with 955's so you're not alone, but I can't remember if people said it was a problem. The colder it was, the louder the HST whine on mine and it never really went away but it did get quieter as it warmed up. Nice tractor, have fun.

That puff of blue smoke means "It started" Some of the surfaces inside the combustion chambers are still cold and the fuel that hits those spots isn't completely burned before it gets pushed out on the exhaust stroke. That looks like a nice machine for the right price. Enjoy the seat time.

That is a nice looking tractor, it seems you have prepared it well too. Now it is time to use it and watch the oil and engine temperatures. I would recommend you go over all the nuts and bolts to be sure they are tight. Also recheck the wheel nuts often while you get used to your new machine.
