What is the purpose of the front tires when they are close togeather and both tilted toward each other at the bottom. Seems this would create a sort of three wheeler condition and make it unstable. Is this something of a gone by era or is it still being produced today?

You can get them with a single front wheel also making it a true 3 wheel tractor. The idea with the tilt is to help the tire cut into the ground while turning. These are row crop tractors and had some advantages. They gave great sight as you didn't have to look thru an axle. You didn't have a low front axle damaging the crop (rear axle has always been higher then the front). And they turned very sharp (which could be a problem if you are on a hill or going to fast). All in all they had their place and I think was an option on some Internationals up into the late 70's early 80's.
