Matters for calculating blade position, but not for just calculating the angles and effective width. Both ends of the blade move yes, but only half as far; add the two halves on either side of the pivot point together and you get the same result.

Yeah, what he said. It's just trig, you can move the lines around but the angle is the important thing.
