Dick...

Did anyone ever tell you... you have excellent taste in implements.... /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

How long have you had yours...? They do offer the 472 with dual tail wheels...

My next upgrade will be the 672 or the Tree cutter… TCO-2615 … I figure by then I’ll have to upgrade the tractor as well… /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Re: What\'s under that rotary cutter?

John - I bought my Brown in July of 2000. At the time I looking for testimony. Didn't get any but decided to <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=owning&Number=10108&Search=true&Forum=All_Forums&Words=bought%20the%20brown%20rotary&Match=Entire%20Phrase&Searchpage=0&Limit=50&Old=allposts&Main=10108>buy it anyway because of its Bush Hog 286 similarity, but friendlier dealer. I like the mass of it.

Oh, and to allay any fears of blade metallurgy causing straightened ones to crack (pennwalk above) - they are dead soft at the pin end.

Re: What\'s under that rotary cutter?

Bottom of John Deere 513 rotary cutter... (regular duty using 3" wide blades)
{see attachment}

Notice 1" thick steel blade holder {missing optional stump jumper pan}

On the heftier rotary cutters, these are huge "flywheels" up to 40" diameter @ 1 1/4" thick weighing as much as 625lbs. alone...

Re: What\'s under that rotary cutter?

Geez... the JD rotary cutters look kinda cheesy compared to some of the other brands. /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

Glad I went with a Woods.... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
