Which BX? 1860, 23, or 26?

A BX does make an excellent companion tractor to an L. Where we live, we use the L5030 and BX2660 almost exclusively. We also run one or both up to another farm where our M8540 and John Deere 2305 live as the 2305 doesn't have a FEL.

We hope some day to have an F, but it won't replace the BX.

One thing you will like is the FEL on the BX's now are much easier to remove/attach than on the 2200.

+1 to that observation. We also "tag team" with a BX and an L series. When the L is too big, the BX fits right in and when the BX isn't enough, the L takes over.

Our local dealer wants 15050 for the 2360 with MMM and FEL.

Barlow said 14850 for the 2660 with MMM and LEF lol.

Here is another different answer to the question you asked. Have you considered a B2320 instead of the BX's. The difference in price looking at the MSRP looks to be about $4K more than a 1860 which is pretty significant, but only $2K more than a 2360 and about $1K more than a 2660.

What you would get is:
3 range HST. You have a lot of acres. The little B has about 50% faster ground speed to get you from one area to another.
Higher ground clearance/no plastic fan to worry about.
Bigger tires for smoother ride.
Engine does not have to be at as high of RPM to get work done. Calmer on nerves. The engine on the BX2660 is actually the same as the B2320 but gets the extra HP through higher RPM.
Improved FEL and 3pt hitch capability including amount and height of lift.
Analog guage for tach instead of digital hour meter/tach combination.
Drive over mower deck and more clearance between deck and bottom of the tractor to hook it up to mid PTO
Foldable ROPs to get under trees easier.

Maybe at least take Dad to the dealer and give him a chance to test drive each.

The list price with FEL & 60" mower deck on the 2320 is only $18364. That doesn't include the loaded tires you mentioned in your other post, but for whatever reason is looks like they are only quoting you about 3% off list on it. The BX2660 similarly equiped is $17670. But your business. Good luck in your decision and deal.
