I saw a used 72" WOODS M72I-1 Rotary Cutter for sale near me, but I don't know anything about this model. Can anyone enlighten me? Mostly I'd like to know what it's rated to cut. Is it a heavy duty model? What years was this made? Thanks for your help.

I think the Woods M721-1 is a 1" standard duty cutter. Ebay has a owners manual available for purchase.

What makes a mower able to handle larger diameter trees? Is it the thickness of the blades?
Blade thickness and width, metal gauge of deck, and gearbox/bearing quality. Since it looks like a stump jumper was optional on this model, I don't think it was intended for a steady diet of heavy brush and trees. Just my opinion based on the links I posted above.
