If a mollusk is considered an animal then why not a fungus?
There is a mycorrhiza fungus living in the soil in France that is over 100 square miles in size and estimated to be at least 5000 years old.

According to how organisms are biologically classified, a fungus is not an animal, it is a separate Kingdom.

The French fungus can be the oldest living organism, but not the oldest living animal, by commonly accepted definitions of the terms.
