Like I said you have no compression... possibly holes in pistons from ether. Really do a compression test to make sure but I don't believe you have enough compression to run and start. If your seeing white smoke your getting fuel how much I have no idea, enough to run, again I have no idea but I would think it would at least sound like it was trying to start if you can see smoke.

For a last trial before tearing it down, I would add a second, jumper battery to crank it more vigorously. Or try tow-starting it.

It would be easier to analyze if its running.

I'm late to the game here.

Did the OP also check to ensure the decompression system is not broken with a compression leak? Late last year a person on another forum we were helping with finished rebuilding their engine. When they got it all installed and the machine put back together, the decompression cable was set backwards. So, the engine would crank and crank with no starting.

Just a thought.
