Are there any threaded drain plugs or similar in the engine block ???
On my JD450 engine I installed a heater and used some threaded holes for the installation - just used pipe nipples and rad hose for the connection and it works well.

There is a threaded hole for a petcock. I've installed a coolant filter using the bypass loop. I was hoping someone had installed a block heater and could give me some direction.

I have a lower hose heater installed, it's worked so far - since winter 2006, so I'm OK for now. Maybe I'll make it a project for next summer.

FWIW, you can always install the tank type heater in parallel with the coolant filter.
Also, on my TY395 (not sure about yours) there is a ~32 mm threaded boss cast on the left side of the engine where a Mercedes Benz type threaded block heater can be installed.
