I saw one of the tractor dealers around here just loop a chain around the top of the tire tread and hold it down that way. Didn't look as good as the strap shown in the photo but it held good enough. One chain on each tire and only looped on one side of the tread bars. Tractor was 5000 lbs, 50 HP.

Saw this earlier this morning on Route 30 outside of Wooster Ohio. Looked like the back wheel of a gravity wagon slipped off the back of the trailer.

No Worries.... I'm sure the swing-arm and axle on that bike were taken apart that afternoon, and properly greased.

Rgds, D.

If they are designed like my dirtbikes, it wouldn't be necessary. I do multiple deep water crossings every day I ride and disassemble and grease just every other year. Street bikes may be different.

On a dirt bike (brand name one at least), I'd expect a marine grade grease to be used at the factory. Wouldn't count on same with a cruiser.

Haven't pulled a cruiser apart yet, but I'd expect better seals on a dirt bike. It's not just the water-crossing issue. Racing MX, a bike can get a 3,000psi+ pressure wash, muliple times a day - street bikes aren't typically exposed to that much pressurized water.

OK so I was headed out for a last min DR apt a few days ago, and about 1/4 mile down the road from my driveway I come across this.

Trailerontheroad_zps2fd9bdd2.jpg

After studying it for a bit I realized it wasn't going anywhere soon. I live in the country and this was my main access road out. I had to go the back way, that adds another 15 miles to my drive.

In the picture, to the left is the rear of the trailer, and it is going up a steep dirt driveway that is a couple hundred yards long. To the right, where the tow vehicle is SUPPOSED to be, is a dropoff of 4-5 feet. I have no idea what happened and didn't have time to hang around and ask, unfortunately. It was cleared by the time I headed home though.

A neighbor told us they got the second half of this double wide stuck the next day. What was it about the definition of insanity? Keep repeating the same mistake and expecting the results to get better? Or something like that.

I was there when this Toyota Tundra towed that space shuttle, it was a beef up pickup truck cable of towing 900 tons, and we didn't use old fashion safety chains, we used invisible tractor beams at a speed of one quarter impulse power.
