284 International Harvester
Very Good Tractor
Model Year: 1986

I hated this tractor and bought it because of size, price, and value. It did not have power steering, or a live power take-off or many gauges. I bought it to bush hog between Christmas trees. This tractor won me over though and it was really a great tractor and was tough as nails. It did much more than something this small should have done. I kept this tractor for 15 years and sold it for what I paid for it. I liked it a lot!

Pros: Did the job
Cons: Easy to overheat if radiator was just a little dirty

Excellent tractor. I put on a Wallenstein backhoe and Allied 195 loader. Works great!

Pros: Strong, versatile compact, multi-use.
Cons: Hard to start in extreme cold.

My International 284
Model Year: 1986

Haven't had any trouble out of my 284 since purchase! Very hard working tractor! Recently the fuel pump went out and i can't find a replacement at a decent price! So I am going to put an electric fuel pump on it! It handles my 6' bush hog just fine and pulls downed trees out of the woods real good! I need a fuel pump for it, if anyone has one or knows where I can get one! and also a caster wheel for my bush hog efm-600! All in all its been a good tractor! I love it! Thanks.

Pros: Easy to operate.
Cons: Only one entrance on left side.

A neat compact tractor. I now have two of them. One has a home-built front-end loader and a Woods 750 Back-Hoe, other will be used with RM-59 mower,brush-hog, rototiller, etc.

Pros: Diesel has ample power.
Cons: It's discontinued. Therefore parts are hard to find & expensive if you do find.
