Ford 655D 4x4
Model Year: 1993
Wishing to replace a 1977 2 wheel drive Ford 550 TLB. This Ford 655D came up for sale locally but has not been worked since 2008. Would only drive in the first two gears, but after a good check over drove it home slowly. A good clean and ready for the shop to be split. Torque converter sent to Joseph industries Ohio for rebuilding, couldn't find anybody in Europe who rebuilds TCs. Rear engine oil seal changed and will change the trans pump and all the trans oil seals and gaskets, a coat of paint. Received rebuilt TC but still waiting for a few seals before it can all be put back together. A good workshop manual and its a pleasure to work on an old Ford tractor.
Pros: 4x4, 4 in 1 bucket and more powerful than a 550.
Cons: More sophisticated electronically.
