682 Cub Cadet
Cub Cadet 682
Model Year: 1979

Also purchased a 1999 Cub Cadet 2185 HDS. Piece of junk compared to the 682. Price $4,000 in 1979 and same in 1999. So something had to give. Light frame and very tiny. About everything is worn out or broken. Originally got it for $200 as an engine replacement for the KT17 which threw a rod the 2nd time. Tractor seemed too good to junk but in retrospect, I should have parted it out. Twin was okay. Found a 16hp Briggs twin for the 682the hydro lever worn so speed erratic. Weld on the arm and new springs on order so should be good now. Like power steering now with the lighter engine up front but need so throttle for engaging the mower - engine lacks the low RPM torque. But once going, handles the 50" deck just fine.

Pros: 682 is the best.
Cons: MTD cadet a piece of junk. Light duty for a direct drive.
