880SELECTAMATIC David Brown
My Honest Tractor
Model Year: 1960

My old David Brown still shapes up every spring to cut, rake and bale about 600 small bales of hay. It has been amazingly reliable and still does a bit of grading and a few post holes. If you can get one in good order I would go for it. In Australia one in good working order goes for around $3,000.

Pros: Diesel, reliable and easy starter.
Cons: No external hydraulics.

AM QUITE HAPPY BUT I NEED TO SORT OUT A FEW PROBLEMS
Model Year: 1967

All I use it for is to mow a 4 acre paddock with a 5 ft slasher. I am trying to rewire it with a Delco Remy alt and sort the hydraulics out. The oil pump pressure is ok but when it warms up it will not life. But if I back into a bank it will hold the slasher up. I am looking for a leaking value (maybe O ring or split pipe?)

Pros: Great Small Tractor
Cons: I also have a small IHI Excavato
