BX1850 Kubota
Almost An Orange Junk Pile
Model Year: 2005

The first few months were incredible, and then the repair bills started. First was the steering. It still wanders after $1,500 in repairs. All of the plastic is busted or cracked. The screw downs for the hood cracked off. Now the hood just kind of floats around. The lenses fell off the headlights. The tires are a joke. Even the emblem fell off the hood. And there was that little plastic fan on the driveline. It has been a nub for at least 8 years.

Pros: Engine starts and runs good, even the transmisson has given no problems
Cons: Everything else

I've had this little tractor since the summer of 2013. It's been very reliable, lots of power for it's size (it is a small tractor). Great on fuel. Loader and mid mont mower are great options. Got a used snowblower this year but haven't tried that yet. Great little tractor for a small property like mine.

Pros: reliable
Cons: abrupt stops in reverse, poor ground clearance, high initial cost.

BX1850 Kubota
Weakest Link
Model Year: 2005

For the most part, it's been one thing after another and all of them have been expensive "repairs". Dealer botched a regular service visit. Tractor returned to me with hydraulic fluid shooting out the back of it. Naturally, I wasn't happy. Next thing I know, I get it back and it starts cutting out. Take it back and $600 later the tech 'finds' a beetle in the fuel line. Steering went out. $1,500 and one year it is out again. And don't even get me started on the cheap, crappy front tires that won't stay inflated so they pop of the rims - and are pretty much a dealer item. Overall, Kubota builds one helluva sub-compact. The problem is too many weak links in the chain that keeps the cash rolling Kubota's way.

Pros: Engine and tranny are bulletproof.
Cons: Dealers with attitude and cheap parts in critical areas.

BX1850 Kubota
Great Sub-Compact Tractor
Model Year: 2008

This is the best tractor I have ever owned. Previous tractor was a Kubota B5100E which was a good tractor I purchased used and was in great shape but old. This BX1850 has exceeded all expectations and then some. Handles the Land Pride 54" tiller really well and the mower deck is outstanding.

Pros: Everything.
Cons: None.

My wife came home with the tractor. The tractor has been great to us we use it for hauling wood cutting grass and plowing snow. Of course it gets used for dirt work too. The only down side of the little tractors is once in a while you want to pick up something heaver that what you should. But living in the city this is more then enough tractor 98% of the time. The only performance fault i have found is when in high range and backing up the tractor stop way to hard. On hills you can pull the front tires off the ground. It has done this sense new it went into the dealer they made some adjustments that did not really help much and they told me it is what it is. Most of the time i am doing all my work in low range anyway so i have been working around it.

Pros: Never misses a beat.
Cons: High speed reverse stops.

BX1850 Kubota
Orange Power in a Green World
Model Year: 2005

Overall, this little beast has done extraordinarily well. Between the bucket, the box scraper, and the mower---clearing weeds and brush have been little problem. It has endured some harsh mishaps with nary a wince. That said, the plastic body looks pretty - but just doesn't hold up. By year 5, the lock downs under the hood had completely degraded (engine heat?) and were broken. The rear tail-lights not only extend beyond the rear wheels but also have zero protection. Hence, a reverse glance against a tree yields a trashed lens and also cracked body. I have quit using the dealerships for service as I have had new problems suddenly crop up every time. I've been stung pretty hard on a couple of occasions - and now reason it would probably cost less to make my own mistakes.

Pros: Power, agility, maneuverability in tight areas.
Cons: Plastic body, no underside protection.

So when we moved from two and a half acres to six acres we decided that our John Deere LX277 just wasn't cutting it. After a year or two we started looking around for a tractor that would mow much faster then our previous mower and have a loader for numerous landscaping projects. We started by looking at larger tractors but realized that they would be much too big, and then we found the BX1850. At first we thought the 18hp diesel would have not enough power for a sub compact tractor. But after we learned that a diesel has more torque and 30% better fuel economy then a gas engine we were all in. The BX is a great tractor, so far we have used it for spreading mulch and removing clay soil. It also mows very well. Very happy with our purchase.

Pros: Strong, powerful tractor; durable and well constructed.
Cons: Weak plastic deck floor and hood.

I had to pull teeth to get the known and documented recall issues addressed. My unprofessional dealer finally fixed some issues. I still had to spend money to fix other issues that "they didn't know anything about." For $12,000, I would have expected a better machine. I would not buy another Kubota, even if the dealership moved into my garage. I have told everyone that will listen to me that I will drive them to the New Holland dealer.

Pros: Multiple uses.
Cons: Pathetic reverse/forward travel.

BX1850 Kubota
Kubota BX1850 Compact Tractor
Model Year: 2008

I bought this tractor used with only 105 hours on it about 7 months ago. It came with a 48"MMM and FEL. I also purchased a 48" box blade new (LandPride) at the time of purchase. Amazing little tractor! We own 70 acres and it has been an invaluable tool to clear trails with the loader and box blade, complete work on our pond, etc. I mow approximately 4 acres with the 48"MMM and it does a great job of finish mowing, particularly in heavy grass situations. I would highly recommend this tractor to anyone. I hope to get many, many years of service from this little workhorse. The only thing I would add (if it were an option) is cruise control for mowing my field. Also, be CAREFUL with hauling heavy loads in the FEL. You should carry the load as low to the ground as possible and should have ballast on the rear of the tractor (I used the box blade for ballast). I would also highly recommend the ag tires as compared to the turf tires, especially for FEL or ground engaging work.

Pros: Rugged, durable, & user friendly.
Cons: No cruise control & seat is tilted a little to far forward.

BX1850 Kubota
High quality mower and can do alot of 3 pt hitch tasks.
Model Year: 2008

I have BX24 Tractor Loader Backhoe so this tractor was bought primarily for front/back lawn mowing and for mowing 5 acres of fields. With it's 54" MMM it is really not suited to the rather rough fields (works too hard) which I don't cut often, so I have an bought an L3700SU with a 60 inch brush hog for the fields and heavy loader work. The BX1850 has a 3 point hitch available(unlike the BX24 which has the BH attached most/all of the time) , so I use appropriately sized implements to do odd jobs, I have a post hole digger/auger and a trencher that I can lay direct burial wire with. Post hole digger will dig a post hole in 4-5 seconds even when you are being careful. Much faster and with less fuss than a backhoe. The BX 1850 has at least one fault, and that is the mounting of the temperature sensor right next to the muffler. Under heavy load (mowing high grass) my temperature gauge gets alarmingly close to the red. It is disconcerting even if most Kubota techs will tell you that it is normal for this tractor because of the sender's location.

Pros: High quality, great high quality lawn mower that can do a lot of other tractor work.
Cons: Temperature sensor location. Ground clearance. Cooling air intake grill tends to rust.

Kubota 1850
Model Year: 2008

Bought NEW and it works beautifully. I have it to do all my work from grass cutting, post holes, rototilling, snowplowing, firewood with the loader, 60inch finishing mower to go under trees 54 inch mid-mount mower for open work. Pulls my 800lb. lawn roller with ease and starts on the coldest winter mornings w/out a block heater. Looking for a snowblower to clear driveways.Only wish the loader had a quick-connect to put on forks. Good purchase.

Pros: Cheap to run, lasts forever on a full tank.
Cons: No remotes on rear or lights. No quick-connect FEL

I purchased this tractor with 236 hrs on it. Includes model LA203 FEL and 54" MMM which I have not used yet.

Pros: Compact size, power steering, ease of removing MMM & FEL
Cons: Tachometer is useless, tractor shakes and rattles when idling very cold blooded

Great Tractor
Model Year: 2008

Great little tractor. I got it with the mower, leaf vacuum, front end loader. I got the 18 horse because I wanted the 48" mower deck. I mow an acre but it's broke up with a lot of trees etc. I needed the maneuverability. I've done quite a bit of medium landscaping projects and pushed a lot of snow with the FEL. Mower gives a good cut. One problem with reliability is one of the banjo fittings that goes from the hydraulic valve to the FEL keeps blowing out an O-ring. Not to hard to repair, but after a couple of times, I called Kubota and they are replacing all 4 banjo fittings for free. Hopefully that fixes this issue. I used it pretty hard when I'm moving dirt and use the FEL for digging also.

Pros: -
Cons: -
