Case 400 Diesel
Model Year: 1948
Bought used with no ID/serial tag. Came with front end loader up front and a rotary mower on rear PTO. The two rear tires are different sizes. Immediately popped a couple of hydraulic hoses, first time I used it. It burns oil and the starter motor is very weak. I have to nurse "Brutus" back to life every time I go the start it. This tractor has turned out to be a workhorse powerful enough for a surprising amount of carrying capacity and lots of work. It burns and leaks oil but gets the job done. Bought several books about old tractors. Wish I could find more info on it.
Pros: Powerful. Good fuel economy.
Cons: Very old and unreliable. Hard to get parts and good info about it.
