G5200 Kubota
G5200 HST Kubota With RG48 Inch Mow-Deck
Model Year: 1987

Nothing can come close to matching it. After more than 29 years it still cranks. It runs, mows , stops, and drives as good as the day I first purchased it brand new. I have only replaced the power take-off belts on the front of it one time. I am going to have to replace them now and just for the second time in all these years of mowing. I noticed all the posts where people were stating using all kinds of power take-off belts for it (G5200HST) and kept referring to the belts as being cogged. Well, mine was bought new and I have never seen one with a cogged belt on it. The pulleys are flat on the idler pulley, and the top and bottom pulleys are V-Pulleys. No Cogged belts. I don't know where they are coming from. There are a total of 6 of these mowers in the neighborhood and no cogged belts ever; not when new and when going to a dealer for replacements. All belts were non-cogged ones for replacements from a genuine Kubota dealer.

Pros: Total tractor and mowing deck unit
Cons: Nothing!

Trans Problem
Model Year: 1985

I thought I had a transmission problem and found that a new trans was no longer available. I was able to find a used one and recommend Joe's Outdoor Power. 4 bolts removed the seat, 6 bolts and pedal retaining pin removal took off the body. 4 bolts and center bolt removed the trans fan and driveshaft from engine and trans. Uncoupled 3 hydro fluid lines and bottom linkage, then 4 bolts allowed the removal of trans. After install of replacement trans and added fluid, I started it up and found the same problem. "It was the driveshaft and boss connector that had stripped out!" I was able to obtain these two parts from Kubota and installed. The machine has never sounded so good... It's better than new. I mis-diagnosed the problem because of non-movement and noise I thought was coming from trans. After body was off and trans replaced, I could then tell it was the drive shaft spinning inside of the boss near engine. Still pleased with the outcome and hope many more years of service from a great machine.

Pros: Diesel engine still great powerful and body is strong.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind.

G5200 Kubota
I didn't buy from a dealer
Model Year: 1984

It seems to be a good tractor, the steering gear is the weak spot on it. The rest is great. I have the hst model and a 48" mower deck on it and it has good power. Starts every time with out problems. I think it has lots of hours left in it and have no plans of replacing it any time soon.

Pros: Diesel engine, cheap to use
Cons: Poor steering gears
