GC2400 Massey Ferguson
Outstanding Little Tractor
Model Year: 2012

I have done several projects with this little tractor and am still amazed at how much it speeds up all of my projects around the house. I think the Subcompact is useful on almost any property size, even down to an acre due to its size to power and utility nature. I have had no issues. I like that it has plenty of seat and platform room for my 6-foot 4-inch very large frame.

Pros: Small, powerful, spacious seat and platform, easy controls
Cons: Would be nice to know when your glow plugs are on with a light or indicato

Poor Quality Tractor
Model Year: 2011

No power, cheaply bolted together, throttle cable always froze in winter, cheap seat tore easily, got stuck all the time. Finally traded it for a John Deere, much better!

Pros: Easy to operate.
Cons: Power, traction, controls, construction.

Love the versatility, great on fuel, have loader on it, and have not taken wheelbarrow off wall in 2-years. Mid mount mower easy to install. Have snow blower and scraper blade, runs a chipper with ease.

Pros: User friendly.
Cons: No aux remotes.

I find this the GC line to be very well thought out from an engineering point. Everything is easy to get to, locations are great, and comfort is superb. This machine can pull, push, lift and anything else you'll need for the average landowner. It's built heavy, compared to some of the others, and the pedals are easy to use (not a rocker pedal).

Pros: Excellent all-around tractor. 4WD, strong, and comfortable to get in and out of.
Cons: Rear lights could use more protection.

Recently purchased with 43 hrs on it. Now sitting at 48 hrs. Growing up on a grain / cattle farm and moving to town and working in the oil patch left me desiring something like this for close to 30 years. O.K. - Back to the tractor. So far I'm impressed with it. Did a lot of front end loader work and tilling with it on a residential lot, landscaping for proper drainage. The hydraulics are very strong. It also significantly exceeded my expectations in torque and weight combinations in being able to unearth topsoil and virgin clay, at just off an idle. And did I say smooth and quiet! I'd used Bobcats before and it tight quarters, they destroy the landscape as much as you are trying to create, not to mention the noise. The tiller I believe is a little light for my liking. It is a Muratori MZ-2X 125. Did the job I needed to do, but seems a little flimsy for breaking up what I was working on. Probably does well in established gardens. The 60" belly mower, I haven't tried to cut grass yet, but it appears to be a fairly hefty built unit. Will be able to submit a more valuable report card in the late spring, but for now, all I can say is AWESOME! 50hr service coming right up...in my garage, thanks to all the great advice and experiences shared on this forum.

Pros: All the features I need for the basics and them some.
Cons: Perhaps a bit much for a tractor this size by a foot throttle and a self leveling FEL would be awesome too!

Tough Little Tractor
Model Year: 2009

I thought long and hard about the ratings I gave this tractor. Pound for pound, it is the toughest tractor I have ever used. I use it to mow my lawn and I have a bushhog to mow my back lot. I also have a FEL. This tractor handles all these implements with ease. I considered giving it all 5s because I couldn't find any faults with it. However, I do wish there were a few changes. A collapsible ROPS would be nice. I would also like a better location for the rear flashers. They are located outside of the ROPS and are subject to getting hit by the trees I work around.

Pros: Power. Agility. Economy.
Cons: None.

Yard Maintenance Jewel
Model Year: 2012

For it's size and price, it's hard to beat. I use it for driveway maintenance summer and winter with FEL and 60"rear blade. Brush cutting some old pasture with a 48" woods brush bull. I did lots of landscaping and land clearing pulling out small trees and alders. I no longer need to use my shovel or wheelbarrow :).It's the perfect size for the yard and won't hurt the grass with turfs.

Pros: Power to size and price, stability and winter starting.
Cons: Low ground clearance and exposed steering boots.

GC2400 Massey Ferguson
Great Little Tractor
Model Year: 2010

I bought a MF GC2400 package that consisted of the tractor, FEL, mid-mount mower, and snow plow to maintain my property. The first job was to tear down and remove two old storage sheds and then level the site for a new steel building. Next was digging out a completely silted in stream bed, one bucket wide and two hundred meters long. Next, I built up the banks of the stream to reduce/prevent flooding. Then started cutting three and a half acres of tall grass. Lastly, used the FEL and plow to regrade a washed out driveway (100 meters long). That was all in a two week period. Since then I have used it to cut grass, plow snow, pull out old hedges and small trees, drag a couple old cars out of the yard, and unload a fireplace insert from the delivery trucks (UPS). Lots of small chores that I just couldn't do without it.

Pros: Ease of use, agility, and low fuel use.
Cons: Too much plastic, turn signal/brake lights that extend out too far.

Update to Previous Review
Model Year: 2010

Tachometer problem is directly related to the holes in the hood drawing freezing air over the tachometer assembly/thus super-freezing it and causing issues(that's why the new GC series does not have the holes). Hydraulic shudder is related to the fuel filter clogging up, which will also cause the engine to speed up a little more than usual (apparently because of the design of the 'banjo fitting').

Pros: Very good machine.
Cons: No position control on 3pt. hitch.

Won't start in cold weather, even with block heater, may or may not start, gas gauge stuck on full so never know how much gas you have and only 7 hours on it. Beware not very dependable.

Pros: Blows snow well if can get it started.
Cons: Reliability...not good.

Model Year: 2011

So far a great little tractor. Seems very well built and easy to operate. DL 90 loader is very strong for a SCUT and the 60 inch MMM is a beast. Looking forward to a very long service life.

Pros: Strong, reliable, easy to operate.
Cons: Lack of storage space.

Little Tractor-Big Heart
Model Year: 2011

Purchased GC2400 with Burder FEL and Silvan 3'6 slasher, have since purchased pallet forks and a 9 inch post hole digger, 5 foot Silvan grader blade and 6 foot stick rake, tractor has handled all attachments, and I have pushed the loads it has lifted with FEL with forks attached using a counterweight on 3pt. It amazes me just how much the tractor can do, slashing extremely long grass, lifting and clearing tree branches. 50 hour service saw a oil leak caused by grass wrapping around drive shaft and working its way into seal, warranty claim and now I know about it, I can keep a close eye on grass building up around shaft (is only negative on tractor).

Pros: Easy to operate, low center gravity, easy to attach implements.
Cons: See review, but now aware, I check each time I slash long grass.

After 135 hours of use, I have experienced only a few small issues with the tractor. The throttle linkage will 'dig' into the lower radiator hose (a simple zip tie fixes the problem of this design flaw). And the tachometer buried to the 'high' side. Cause unknown/lubrication suspected. Slight hydraulic shudder showed up at around 120 hours. Cause unknown. The mower deck, as designed is hard to install, I leave the FEL on all the time, so that aids installation. The 60" mower cuts great, the snowblower works great. This tractor, albeit small, is extremely strong and well built.

Pros: Left foot brake. Easy to manuever in tight areas. Extremely easy to service.
Cons: No position control.

GC2400 Massey Ferguson
Great Small Tractor
Model Year: 2010

I purchased this tractor to get some landscaping done around the house. This tractor has done way more than I ever imagined it would. I have dug into the hill to flatten out an area for a patio and retaining wall, a pool, and a playground set. I lift trees that have been cut to load the on a trailer for lumber and it even helped my lift and drag an old wooden boat off a trailer. The only reason this tractor has failed to lift something is when it is lifting the back of the tractor off the ground. My dad was so impressed with mine that he went and got the GC2610 with the backhoe. I have used that to dig a footer and for installing a lot of drainage tile. As far as dealers go, Oliver and Sons in Canaseraga can't be beat. It's one of those dealerships where they not only know you by name but they know off the top of their head and questions you have had in the past and exactly what you do with your tractor. Their service turnaround is amazingly fast and very reasonably priced. I will never buy a tractor from anyone else. For sales, they will spend all the time you need and never try to upsell. They want you to have the tractor that will best meet your needs and they certainly did that for me. Out of 5 stars, I would really like to give them and this tractor 6 because the entire experience has exceeded all my expectations. The only modification I have made is to disable the auto shutoff because it is way too sensitive and with living on such a hill, if the parking brake ever kicked out, at least the tractor would be moving slow enough for me to catch it. I have bumped it while climbing on and had the brake kick out and this saved me from a very wild ride. I would suggest the GC series for any homeowner.

Pros: Power, comfort in seat and reaching controls.
Cons: Turn lights are mounted outside the ROPS and I keep running into things and breaking them.

Update for 2011
Model Year: 2010

I noticed that several people said the tractor was unstable on the hills. I do not have a loader, but I operate on lots of hills. I bought the weight bracket for the front and they made a 3pt hitch bracket for the rear that also has a trailer ball on it. The dealer sold me 6 small tractor suitcase weights of about 40 lbs. each to hang on the front or rear. They are on the rear for snow blowing and I use them on the front with the bush cutter. The farm I bush cut on has lots of hills and I cut up, down, and sideways with no tipping. I use the weights on the front when pulling the very heavy old wharf out of the water, and my 19' cabin cruiser. I put in about 40 hours bush cutting this summer between 3 different farms and had no problems. I am 6' 2" and weigh 210 lbs. and am very comfortable on the tractor.

Pros: Great power, very smooth and quite. It hums. Mine came with a block heater and starts great in Maine winters after about a 20 minute warm-up.
Cons: MMM is a pain to get on and off, mostly because the wheels on it don't swivel all the way around, so you have to drag it under the tractor.

MF GC2400 SCUT
Model Year: 2011

I have seen small equipment like this GC2400 referred to as "over-sized lawn mowers" but that's okay. I bought this tractor to help my wife take care of our property while I am stationed overseas. I had a couple criteria: 1. Good Reviews/reputation. 2. A price I could afford with mid-mount mower, FEL, and snow blade. 3. Easy to use and to swap out attachments. 4. Powerful enough to get the chores done. The GC2400 has met all of these. I spent a couple months reviewing and comparing all the similar offerings from the major companies. The only one even close was the Cub Cadet/Yanmar 2400 but it would have cost me $2,700 more. I used the GC2400 to remove two old farm buildings, clear the rubble/rubbish from the site, and then build up a level platform to have an all steel garage erected. That took three days and the tractor did a great job. Next I used it to build a 150 yard long by two feet high berm along an intermittent stream that often floods my lower yard. The light rear end was an issue when I had a full bucket and was going down a slope; I always felt like I was going to tip forward. Some weights would have solved that but I didn't have any at the time. Next I tried out the mid-mount mower on the three acre front yard. It cut my mowing time in half from what my JD 325 mower takes. The GC2400 is very maneuverable and going around my many trees was a breeze. The last job was to scrape my gravel parking lot and 80 yard long driveway to level it out. I was surprised at how well the front blade worked. My wife will have no problem pushing snow with it.

Pros: Size, power, cost, ease of use, ease of swapping attachment.
Cons: The mid-mount height limiter is between your feet and I bent it over a couple times. That is not a good place for a lightly built gadget. Rubber deck pad is flimsey and will not last.
