Great Tractor
Model Year: 1969

This has been a good reliable tractor. It is to small for what I want sometimes but we make do. It has a loader which it is mostly used for. It has some hydraulic issues which is why I joined tractor net to get some information. It is a great small tractor.

Pros: Great small tractor.
Cons: Hydraulics have always been weak.

John Deere 1020 Gas
Model Year: 1972

This has been a very solid and reliable tractor. Have owned it over 30 years. I rebuilt the engine once. Put in a new head gasket and new carb. this year. I have bailed 12 acres of hay every year plus mowing with finish mower and snow removal. It starts great even in cold weather. Good gear speeds and 2 stage clutch.

Pros: Not too big and not too small for 10-12 acres.
Cons: Fuel cost would be less with diesel model.

JD 1020 with Loader
Model Year: 1965

This tractor had seen a hard life before I ever got it. I got it from a landscaper and I would guess that his workers worked it for all it was worth. Despite that history it has been a great machine. It is a three cylinder gas engine that is completely reliable and steady running. Hydraulics on the loader leak some, but that is because I haven't taken the time to rebuild the control valves or tighten a few connections. The bucket is 60" and I welded a few chain grab hooks to the top of it. It adds tot he versatility as I can pick, load and unload all sorts of things from my truck. Rated at 35 HP, it is a real good size for many jobs. It is heavy enough for digging (I put teeth on the bucket), I have a 6" chipper and a 60" tiller and a 60" snow blower. All accessories run without problem and don't begin to challenge the machine or engine.

Pros: A great all around tractor, work horse, controllable beast. It is easily a big brother to any current production 35 HP tractor.
Cons: None.

The tractor was in a fire 80 percent burnt. I did a complete cosmetic tear down scuffed and painted replaced hoses and decals. It has a 48 loader, 1 scv new after market seat. I did have a right axle housing break and the brake disc was separated when i took it a part it is also a gas model it seems to have lots of power for 40 hp. I have a snowblower bush hog and flail mower it runs with no problem. I also have a log grapple 7 ft Graer blade and 6 foot Gannon landscaper.

Pros: Great little tractor with lots of power.
Cons: Set back front axle with strange steering geometry.

Great little tractor for the money. Runs like a top and loader handles large rounds easily.

Pros: Inexpensive, big enough for what I need, maneuverable.
Cons: A little more HP is always nice.

Priced right at $2500.This machine offered enough power (37 hp) for all the implements I needed. Including chipper, brush hog, rake and grader. Basic, uncomplicated machine. Gas powered, 2wd, stable. Built in USA (I believe). I also have a JD 750 4wd, which is much smaller and less user friendly. I much prefer the older JD's.

Pros: Good value, stable, good power, very capable machine.
Cons: Older machine but priced right.

Great Small Farm Tractor
Model Year: 1966

Great all around under 40hp tractor. Handles a 6ft brush hog with little complaint. I cut 10+ acres of hay with it every year. Pulls a NH 273 baler very nicely.

Pros: good power, very reliable
Cons: compatible loaders are $$$
