JD2640 John Deere
Love My Tractor
Model Year: 1981

This is perfect size to plow my long country driveway, split and haul wood, plant food plots with a John Deere 7000 4 row no till drill and also a JD grain drill. Runs a 7' farm king PTO Snow blower and is an all around fun tractor, has enough power to do anything I ask and still fits in garage!

Pros: See above.
Cons: None for me.

JD2640 John Deere
Great Loader Tractor
Model Year: 1980

I traded an almost new New Holland TT50A for this 2640, plus some cash. I'd do it over and over again. This tractor runs great. It has the 146 loader on it, and is heavy enough to dig deep into piles of manure or gravel or whatever I throw its way. I use this to mow hay most of the time now with our JD 926 Moco. The 70hp is plenty to keep moving through thick grass. I really can't say enough good things about this tractor. It had recently had the engine rebuilt, and the clutch replaced prior to me owning it. The electrical all works, and the hydraulics are very responsive. I pick this over our McCormick cab tractor most of the time because of the extra horse power and how well the remotes work. I'm able to run my round baler with it since it has dual remotes on the back.

Pros: Great road speed, loader power, and balanced weight for lifting.
Cons: Old style JD hydraulic connections require adapters for ISO fittings.
