L345 Kubota
Hard Life But Always Willing and a Tank
Model Year: 1982

I bought this with a Kubota snowplow to plow our long driveway and bush hog the fields (about 12 acres). It was relatively inexpensive, but obviously had a hard life. The tires are cracked (but still hold air!), the body is faded, dented, and rear lights are missing or broken. The engine smokes for a few seconds until it gets on a roll, and there is some blowby. It needs the glow plugs to start every time, and they need to be warmed up for 20-50 seconds (which is what is recommended by the owners manual anyway). After all that, this thing is always game to bushhog with a 5 foot mower, drag logs out of the woods, and push snow wherever. It doesn't burn oil, and I feel comfortable doing almost anything with it.

Pros: Good size (not too big or small), always willing, solid build.
Cons: Worried about double clutch.

L345DT-A great tractor
Model Year: 1982

I've had this 345DT about 6 months now and it has been a wonderful tool. I installed the used loader after I bought the tractor and have been very pleased with the performance. I've now got the loader, a forklift attachment (in place of the bucket), sickle bar mower, and box blade. The loader/forklift will pick up 1500lb and will put a pallet up almost 9ft. It's got loaded rear tires, a real requirement with this loader. I've used it to move boards, timbers, logs, pallets, barrels as well as mowing, driveway grading and sitework. After 6 months and 20+hrs, I have had no problems. Great tractor!

Pros: Compact, but very capable. Great build quality, strong loader.
Cons: Cold-blooded! It takes a long glow plug session to get it going in the cold, but it always starts.

Kubota L345DT
Model Year: 1981

Rock solid little tractor with all the features of a bigger one - 4WD, power steering, standard three point linkage and even a cab. Ideal for a market garden, small but with a lot of traction and can pull like a train. If you want to take it further afield give yourself plenty of time, 11mph top speed. Not many of these in the UK so parts can be expensive and not readily available on the internet. Manuals are equally rare. That said you shouldn't need much.

Pros: Solid build, all the extras
Cons: Rare, expensive parts
