L3830 Kubota
L3830GST
Model Year: 0

I bought this tractor because I started feeding 6-foot round bales and needed a front-end loader that could handle 1,400-1,500 pounds. My B 7800 could not. I added kits for quick change and 3rd function. What an improvement in utility! The grapples are very useful, and so are the pallet forks. The biggest difference between them is the weight. The B with everything is a little over 2,700 pounds and the L being a Grand model is a little over 5,700 pounds. A tractors ability comes more from weight than horsepower. Sometimes doing things with the B I felt like the tail. Doing the same tasks with the L I know I am the dog. On the weak front-end loader comments. I wonder if engine RPM plays a part. My B is a hydrostatic and when doing front-end loader work my engine RPM is generally not all that high. The Grand L has an additional floor throttle which allows me to easily add RPM which helps a lot with hydraulic power. Bottom line - this tractor does everything I ask of it.

Pros: Weight, reliability, quality, power
Cons: None yet

This is a great tractor. I moved up from the ford 8M, and man what a difference. I can't complain about the 8N, but this L3830 a work horse I have a front-end loader on it. It is great and versatile. It does lack some break out power on lifting, but I have a 72" square bucket and it still has more power than I need. If it did have more power in the front-end loader, you would probably break something! I own a termite backhoe and it lacks in loader lift too. Maybe it is the way they are designed. And folks, they’re really not meant for digging. I always loosen up dirt with a plow or ripper now. That's where loaders shine and a tractor with a full bucket is no problem. Go anywhere. Overall, the tractor is awesome and the power is unreal!! My only other complaint is that there is no 4-wheel drive light. Sometimes I forget to take out of 4-wheel. We'll see how it does this winter, other than that. I have used it for food plots I bought it to remove snow. We'll see. I'll post again this winter. I was told it is easy starting in winter and to run 10w-30 in winter. We'll see! I can't wait to use the loader all winter! But what a move up from my ford 8N. Now I use it just to mow. I did a lot with that tractor!

Pros: All good, parts are easy to find if you ever need them, dealers are good
Cons: The loader is a little week on lift

Clearing Land
Model Year: 2006

Tractor (Kubota 3830) used to clear small acreage (5) at new home site. Used FEL, BH, & BS to spread top soil for yard & maintained surrounding areas. FEL used to move tree debris from roadways & BS used to maintain gravel road.

Pros: Handling, access to controls good, seating comfortable.
Cons: R4 tires poor traction in snow or wet ground, throttle stiff.

Kubota L3830 HST

I bought this tractor new and currently have 400 hours on it. It has been great in all tasks required of it. The tractor operates very efficiently and is dependable as gravity. I added the Kubota loader to the tractor 3 years ago and it has greatly increased the tractors versatility.

Pros: Economical, dependable, versatile.
Cons: No 4WD indicator light is all I can think of.

L3830 Kubota
Loader Too Weak
Model Year: 2004

LS3830 GST equipped with a quick attach loader Model #LA723. The lift capacity is GREATLY compromised with the quick attach assembly. When the bucket is in the rolled down position it will not lift any weight if using a center hook. When working any gravel, its curl is not sufficient to break out same when you are using the machine for ice and snow removal. I think the problem is the hydraulic pump is too small for the machine. The position of the exhaust in such a low location cause the operator to breath fumes. The valve stems are not protected and tend to damage (should have protective cups around them). I had a 1983 L 2250 that would do more work both the tractor and loader. I think Kubota needs to re-engineer the entire hydraulic system in order to handle the loaders specs, etc.

Pros: Reliablity.
Cons: Loader lacks lift, exhaust underneath, valve stems exposed etc.

Review of L3830 GST w/Loader
Model Year: 2001

I have had this tractor for a few years now, and while it only gets occasional use for season mowing and property maintenance, it has been absolutely trouble free and perfect for my small farm. I would recommend this tractor to anyone and find I prefer the GST to HST I have operated that are owned by others.

Pros: Power, dependability, ease of service, easy to operate.
Cons: Wish hydraulic hookups on rear of tractor were standard.

3830
Model Year: 2007

I am still getting used to the Kubota. So far I have cleaned 20 some inches of snow and plowed my garden. The real reason I made the purchase is to help in firewood cutting. I have ordered a grapple bucket and 3rd function remote.

Pros: Excellent fuel economy, very good power available.
Cons: None yet.

L3830 Kubota
Lacks Power for the 723 Loader
Model Year: 2003

I purchased the L3830 based on the fact that I had owned L2550. The 3830 came with a standard bucket on the LA723 system which was not good for lifting but passible. I purchased the 6 foot quick attach system from my Kubota Dealer. The loader has next no break out unless the bucket is rolled forward quit a bit. So the hook lacks the strength to lift. When moving snow banks the problem is compounded. The dealer never mentioned how bad the lift capacity was going to be effected. The valve stems stick out too far and get caught and snap off. They should be protected by apiece of round pipe with a cap.

Pros: Ease of operation, fuel consumption, GST transmission.
Cons: LA723 loader attachment with quick disconnct has low lift and brake out.

L3830 Kubota
L3830 HST
Model Year: 2006

I purchased my L3830 HST new in June of 2006 with the primary purpose of mowing with a 72" bush hog mower on my acreage. I added a Kubota front end loader to the tractor last year. I have been super pleased with the tractor in all respects. They are a well built machine and I have had zero problems since new. The addition of the loader just took the utility of the tractor to a new level. I didn't purchase the loader with the tractor in 2006 due to budget constraints but I should have. I got the quick attach loader with a standard bucket and a set of Kubota heavy duty pallet forks. I cut a lot of firewood and the forks are super handy in that task. The tractor is super efficient in mowing and tilling with a 72" King Kutter tiller. I would highly recommend this model of tractor to anyone needing one in this size range.

Pros: HST transmission is great/economy of operation/overall quality of contruction.
Cons: I have found none yet.

Kubota L3830 GST
Model Year: 2005

I purchased my Kubota L3830 GST 4x4 to replace an L3830 2wd which I had just sold. The L3830 was the perfect physical size tractor for my property, but I really wanted a FEL and therefore could justify moving up to a 4wd tractor. This tractor has been flawless since the day it arrived. I use it to bush hog about 20 acres a few times a year. I am using a 6' medium duty Bush Hog and it pulls it with no problems. I use the FEL all the time. I am still amazed at the many uses I find for it. The lift height of the FEL is satisfactory. Power is never lacking and its physical size allows me to go anywhere in the woods I need to go. The GST transmission allows me to constantly change speeds easily as needed. My dealer is Farmbelt Equipment in Brookhaven, MS and they have been excellent to work with. They always go above and beyond to make my purchases easy and so far I have not had to use them for service on the three pieces of machinery I have bought from them.

Pros: Good physical size with a lot of power
Cons: Fuel tank could be bigger
