L4400 Kubota
Kubota L4400
Model Year: 2011

With only 50 hrs. of use, I haven`t fully put it through the motions, however it`s done everything it`s been asked to do with ease. This tractor's use is primarily maintaining 1/2 mile of dirt road and clearing woods and trails. I purchased it with R4 tires loaded but think I may have been better off w/ag tires for traction in soft turf, even with loaded tires it needs additional weight on 3pt. This machine is an absolute animal as far as low end torque for pulling/pushing etc. I am very impressed overall with the performance of this tractor and will be complimenting it w/additional attachments when budget allows (brush grapple).

Pros: Power, reliability.
Cons: None yet.

The tractor is fitted most of the time with a heavy duty Mazotti backhoe. We also use front bale forks and a 4 in 1 bucket. Overall it has proven a good tractor and it has adequate performance for the work on our hilly property. With the wheels kicked out to the maximum, it is also stable. Overall build quality is good, with some minor niggles. For instance, the seat vinyl has separated and the seat started wobbling after 100 hours. Some of the Kubota implements have paint problems. No major dramas and everything got fixed under warranty, but annoying. The engine needs more side protection when working in scrub. We have had wires and even the dipstick pulled out by branches. The only real complaint is the noise from the hydraulic transmission, especially when hot. They all have it, in fact it is a hallmark of the Kubota transmissions, even their big mowers have it. Nothing to do with reliability or strength (they seem bullet proof), just a noisy design.

Pros: Strong, reliable, good service, strong re-sale value.
Cons: Noisy hydraulic transmission design, lack of side protection for engine.

I purchased this tractor in 2008; I was building a new home at the time so I added a loader, backhoe, tiller rear plow, landscape rake, forklift, post hole auger and a logging winch. I've since added many farming implements, 2 furrow plow, hiller, disc harrow, etc. I love this tractor, I bought the industrial tires because of the large lawn and I have never regretted that decision. My rear tires are loaded (wish I'd loaded the fronts). I was initially told my tractor would have trouble with a 2 furrow plow, I run mine in mid range in clay/rock and never had an issue, actually I would like and am confident the L-4400 could handle a 3 furrow plow in low range.

Pros: Tough and reliable, great on fuel.
Cons: I hate that there isn't a drain cock on the fuel filter. Parts are incredibly expensive. I haven't been able to get a maintenance manual but I am told they are available now or will be shortly.

Decent enough tractor for what it is. My biggest complaint is the inability to widen out the rear tires. The tractor severely lacks stability when the bucket is in the air, and I don't mean way up. I have had one rear tire off the ground a number of times. My second biggest complaint is that the tractor has to be dead stopped with your foot on the brake to change gears without it grinding. This is the worse tractor I own or have driven for this aggravation.

Pros: Starts easily. Easy to access engine. Decent power.
Cons: Lightweight, can't widen rear tread width, grinds gears.

Solid Tractor
Model Year: 2001

No issues so far with tractor. Glide shift is a little slow when the tractor is cold.

Pros: Solid build. Power steering is great.
Cons: Hesitation/drift when shifting on hills. Would like a way to make sure that it is locked in gear when I park it on a hill.

Enjoyed using the tractor/loader while building a house and mowing 15 acres for 1 year, then started experiencing problems starting the tractor at about 130 hours. After several attempts myself, I took the tractor back to the dealer. He has spent over 14 hours trying to track down the interlock problem and now has a Kubota factory rep scheduled in to find the problem. Tractor has been out of service now for over 2 weeks.

Pros: Power, maneuverability, easy access to for routine maintenance.
Cons: Too many interlocks.

Great Tractor
Model Year: 2007

I traded my 8N tractor for this at Bentley Bros in Albion, NY and have been pleased with its performance. I mow approximately 10 acres, plow snow with a quick attach 8 ft. snowpusher mounted on the loader and it does a great job.

Pros: Powerful and fuel efficient. Always starts no matter how cold it gets.
Cons: None.

I purchased this tractor new in 2008. It is equipped with a loader and backhoe. I also use it with rear finishing mower, logging winch, plow, landscaping rake and many farm implements, this tractor handles them all quite well, sometimes I need to go into low range to get the required power, but that isn't a problem.

Pros: Very reliable and easily maintained.
Cons: I wish it had a drain cock on the fuel filter. I am seeing some rust that disappoints me. Parts are very expensive.

I'm very please with the tractor even with the 2 wheel drive, standard shift. Lots of power and get the job done. I have not had any problem which is a blessing.

Pros: Lots of power.
Cons: Didn't have 4 wheel drive.

L4400 Kubota
Kubota L-4400
Model Year: 2000

I have a mile of private road to our recently built home and needed a tractor to maintain the road by grooming it during the warm months and clearing snow during the winter. I also have ongoing landscaping projects, and gardening to do. The L-4400 does very well at most of these task. It is small enough to make it very maneuverable, especially with the hydrostatic transmission. The brush hog is just a bit large for my tractor but functions well at taking out the sage brush. The box scraper and blade that I use on the road work very well, as does the snow blower. The hydrostatic transmission is just excellent at quick changes to go forward and backwards. It also makes changing implements by myself much easier. I am looking to get rear remotes to speed up changing the angle and tilt of the box scraper w/scarifying teeth, blade and snow blower. My only regret is not having more horse power, but the trade off is a bigger tractor which is less maneuverable.

Pros: Small, maneuverable, hydro-static transmission, easy on and off.
Cons: Lack of rear remotes, horsepower. non-standard hydraulic connectors.

HST Concerns
Model Year: 2008

Kubota is a super tractor, but I'm not sure the HST is worth the extra expense. The manual shift is tried and true and does not cost as much to operate in my opinion.

Pros: Kubota is one tough tractor if it is a manual shift.
Cons: HST is not a good fit for me.

Kubota L4400 w/Loader
Model Year: 2012

Have low hours and only used so far for mowing (72" Farm King Finish Mower, bush hogging (72") and moving dirt around new home. Glad I got the L4400 vs. L3800 because this tractor does with ease what I need w/o overloading. Fit/finish on Kubotas is unsurpassed.

Pros: Good power, HST is perfect for mowing.
Cons: High engine speed for PTO rated speed.

L4400 Kubota
L4400 is Great
Model Year: 2012

I've only owned this rig a month, but I can tell it will be one of my favorite pieces of equipment. I got the 4400HST with industrial tires and LA703 loader and a Land Pride 1272 (6 ft.) brush hog. While the cutter is light duty, it has cut at least 2 inch oak or cedar scrub no problems. The key to making a bush hog live is not to treat it like a chainsaw and expect it to cut trees best left for the chainsaw. I also own an L3400 HST with loader which is 4 years old with 250 hours. I own multiple pieces of land so I wanted to eliminate hauling the L3400 so much so I bought the new L4400. Both tractors are absolutely bulletproof, AS LONG AS you don't expect them to be bulldozers. They are small tractors for goodness sake. Nonetheless, both rigs will get the job done as long as the job is within their size range. With proper care and maintenance, I expect both these tractors will be passed down to my kids/grand kids when I'm gone. I'm a big Kubota fan, although I'm sure Kioti, Deere, Mahnidra, New Holland all make good equipment. However, with Kubota's reputation and the fact there is very little money difference in brands. I'm Big K orange all the way.

Pros: Reliability, reputation, resale, ease of use.
Cons: Hydraulic specs and weight under some competitors.

Had this tractor now for 6 years and it is a real work horse. Have a grapple for the front end loader and a back hoe attached too. Works like a trust ole mule. Can't complain about anything on this tractor. Well, maybe I would like a 100 hp... but for around the farm and to get wood out of the woods, it's the best!

Pros: Never has failed to start or work hard in 6 years!
Cons: Wish I had waited to get the hydrostatic.

L4400 Kubota
Excellent Choice
Model Year: 2008

This was my first tractor. I spent hours researching which one was best suited for the jobs I had at hand and ones I would have in the future, and this one best suited my needs. It was the best bang for the buck. Very simple, no frills. I did not want all the extras because, c'mon, this is for work, and I knew I'd break anything that didn't have to be there. I love the simplicity of a HST. It's great for a new tractor owner, and really comes in handy doing loader work. I have put about 50 hours on it so far and it has done everything I've wanted it to do. Money well spent. The only problem I've had with it was in some really heavy brush a stick got under it and pulled the wire out from the starter. The wire had just been pushed on its connector. That should not happen, maybe a little solder or a more solid connection would have been better. I turned the tractor off and did some work on foot and when I got back on it wouldn't start. Not a good feeling when you're far from home or anyone else. 30 minutes of troubleshooting led me to the wire. All in all, it is a great tractor and am extremely pleased with it. I would buy it again in hindsight.

Pros: It's orange baby! Go VOLS.
Cons: Wire connection on starter.

L4400 Kubota
Great Tractor
Model Year: 2011

I must say it has been a great tractor. I had a problem with the tractor not running right after I got it home, but then it was fine after a trip to the local dealer. I purchased this tractor from Marshalls Machinary which was great. I did not purchase it locally because the local dealer was a bit rude. I have the front end loader, and backhoe. I use both of them a lot, and both have been great. I would have thought the tractor would have more power in the front end loader, and maybe a touch more in the backhoe, but they are great. Overall I would buy this tractor again and would make the trip to Marshalls.

Pros: Great tractor for the price, lots of great uses.
Cons: A little down on power for the loader.

Tree Farm & Kubota L4400
Model Year: 2008

I bought the L4400 for a very specific reason, it was the largest tractor I could use with a bush hog and get between the trees on my tree farm. It is an excellent tractor with one main flaw. The connector between the transmission and the rest of the hydraulic system is exposed under the tractor in a Z shaped fitting with 0 ring fittings at each end and can be bent or pulled out by high brush. The dealer sells a $700 steel plate to protect this fitting but I have not bought one, electing to replace the fitting now three times, in 3.5 years.

Pros: A small tractor with a lot of power and versitility for its size.
Cons: Hydraulic connector under tractor is exposed to damage from brush.

L4400 Great All Around Machine
Model Year: 2007

I have the manual shift; front loader with skid steer disconnect. Use skid steer forks or bucket. I am using a 96" twin blade brush hog. Using a straight blade, box blade, auger, 72" bucket, truss boom. I added factory rear hydraulic kit and CAT 2 hydraulic upper link. Then added lines to the front for a 4 in 1 bucket. I change between the rear upper link and the front hydraulics. I mount as needed a Mile Marker hydraulic winch on the rear of the tractor. The bucket has a welded 2" receiver mount for a Warn winch that I use for raising and lowering a tower. The tractor has an Anderson power connector for the winch.

Pros: Great all uy around tractor, the skid steer option.
Cons: None.
