I use this tractor mostly for very rough bush hogging such as In the woods. I use a woods bb x 72 with it which is a monster and a woods 72" root grapple on the front. It is a tough tractor and I am hard on it. I have timber land that I manage and it is great for moving dead or down trees and cutting trails and general up keep.

Pros: Tough and strong
Cons: HST transmission would be nice, but not offered in this big a tractor. Hydraulic shuttle shift takes some getting used to.

Power and Comfort
Model Year: 2012

I just picked this new 2012 M7040 up a few days ago. I stumbled onto one of the last Tier III tractors around and got a great deal from my local Kubota dealer. I bought this machine to use in my food plot business for the heavier work, like pulling my 3 seed box, 2000 lb Kasco Eco Drill. It got it's first test the day after I signed the papers and it planted 8 acres in 6.4 hours with ease, in mountainous terrain. I had added roughly 800 lbs of suitcase weights and brackets and 400 lbs. of rim guard and it handled the steep hills without missing a beat. Great tractor and the UltraGrand Cab is very comfortable!

Pros: Power to weight ratio
Cons: none so far

This is my third Kubota and second M7040. Great tractor for my needs. I enjoy working this tractor and haven't had any issues yet. I plan to get a loader soon. Wish had two remotes and more brush guards underneath is only features complaint. Very easy to maintenance and clean. The parking brake doesn't hold well but with the box blade on the ground, it holds it parked.

Pros: Great to operate, works good for me, plenty of go.
Cons: Parking brake weak, underbody guards, small toolbox, wish had 2 remotes standard.

Great tractor with a very powerful engine (lots of torque), much better than my previous Kubota. The cab is decent but not as good as a John Deere. I find the steering wheel to be too low which makes me have to bend over a bit to reach it, if the steering wheel telescoped it would be fine. One other problem is the placement of the 3 point hitch lever. It is very low and awkward to reach, I am getting used to it but it is somewhat aggravating. Also the 3 point hitch does not seem to have adequate range, the arms don't really go high enough or low enough. Overall I do really like the tractor, I am extending the steering wheel to fit me and I will just deal with the 3 point issues. With all that said, a great tractor overall: good steering, great engine, good loader (VERY easy to take loader off and on), great Kubota quality. For what I use this tractor for, it needs ballast.

Pros: Kubota quality, great engine, good loader.
Cons: Ergonomics are so so, 3 point hitch range.

Monster Machine
Model Year: 2012

This unit is a beast. The cab AC can make you feel like you are in Canada in the middle of our sweltering summer heat. Strong, reliable, well priced and backed by a great service program. Was going to buy a JD. JD was over 12K more for the same HP machine and would not budge on the price. I am very happy with unit.

Pros: Power, reliability, strength, price point.
Cons: None noted yet.

Great All Around Tractor!
Model Year: 2012

I have put 410 hours on this tractor in 7 months, clearing land with a root grapple, working the hay field, clipping with a 15 ft batwing to land leveling. It has surprised me with is power, comfort, quality and reliability I have had days this tractor ran 16 hours non stop refuel it running and keep going! And I have worked it hard and abused it. Not only would I recommend it to someone else I am purchasing a second one this week

Pros: Very strong, very user friendly, good on fuel, very tight turning, great pulling power.
Cons: Had to load the back tires for heavy FEL work, and space back ties out one position for stable ride on hills, after that it's great.

I have enjoyed the tractor up to this point.

Pros: Excellent turning radius and plenty of power.
Cons: My knee sometime hits the throttle lever and causes it to move. Loader attachments are sometimes a little difficult to attach.

Also have John Deere 2055---very good tractor. Bought Kubota with 4wd, cab and loader, like very much at this time.

Pros: Excellent power, turning radius, comfort, fuel economy.
Cons: Cab has no storage, a little rough riding, but not bad, getting used to.

Satisfied M7040HDC-1 Owner!
Model Year: 2012

After owning 3 different L series open station tractors (L3400HST, GL3830GST, and a GL4240HST) I finally decided to buy a cab tractor. Initially I wanted a GL5740HSTC because I was spoiled by the hydrostatic transmissions on the other tractors that I had owned but after discussing it with my dealer he recommended the M7040 with hydraulic shuttle. Boy, am I glad he did! I was able to buy a larger tractor with a larger and nicer cab for about the same price. I am impressed with the spacious cab with well thought out controls and air condition vents in front of the operator. After using the tractor for a few hours doing loader work and some mowing in some tight areas I found that I don't miss the HST at all. I really like the feel of the hydraulic shuttle shift.

Pros: Spacious cab and excellent view of raised loader, I really like the horsepower to size ratio of this tractor, It is perfect for my application.
Cons: I wish Kubota offered an instructor's seat as an option.

Well Built Tractor
Model Year: 2010

I have had my 7040 since May 2010. I have really enjoyed the quality and features. The 4WD is a big plus. My previous tractor was a Case 495 that was 10 yrs old when I got it and used it another 10. I wish I would have had 4WD for those 10yrs. My Kubota has 295 hrs in 7 1/2 months with no problems. I use it for part time mowing, loader work etc. It has plenty of power, I use a 7' Modern Predator mower. I have pulled an 8' offset disc & 3 bottom plow in Black Gumbo soil (rice field, clay that is good for rice, okra & crawfish). I pulled the disk in 4 Lo @ 3.9 mph @ 2160 rpm (PTO speed). rated speed is around 2600 rpm. Pulled great and wasn't even at full throttle. The controls are laid out well. Shifts smooth. All around great tractor. Hope to still have it 20 yrs from now.

Pros: The whole Kubota design.
Cons: None so far.

Got this tractor to bushhog, subsoil, disc, and plant thirty acres of green fields for deer and turkey. I like the Land Pride 8ft. cutter.

Pros: Kubota build quality.
Cons: I was too cheap to get the cab, but I wish I had.

Great tractor so far!
Model Year: 2010

The newer model Kubota's are very well built, better than previous models as far as in cab appearance and location of a/c ducts and over all controls of tractor. It has good power and smooth steering and works great for cutting implement we have mounted to loader (www.chop-zilla.com). Very happy with it overall. Although the position where fuel cap is mounted has shown to be troublesome it has spun of a couple of times due to tight blueberry rows we have cut slapping cap, and in one case allowed trash to get into tank. We had to modify cap so it wouldn't come off. But that is my only complaint!

Pros: Controls, apperance, and ride.
Cons: Fuel cap location.
