SLT1550 Cub Cadet
Cub Cadet Super LT1550
Model Year: 2008

Bought used from 1 owner and so far this is a beast of a tractor. Instantly installed a mulch kit and it cuts like butta! Love the mow in reverse feature and although it doesn't have the speed I am used to with my other zero turn mowers, its a great tractor. Comfortable and easy to maneuver. Would buy another in a heartbeat! Satisfied customer!

Pros: Comfort, parts availability, serviceable, easy deck removal.
Cons: Slow speeds in reverse.

The tractor has served well, used to haul wood, dirt and stone in a (1yd) trailer and mow 1.5acre (would get the garden tractor next time) comfortable mowing with decent speed from the hydro transmission (I enjoy this feature) I agree there is a lack of self service info in the manual. Plenty of power to mow tall grass.

Pros: 50" deck, easy deck adjustment, tight steering radius, mow in reverse.
Cons: Lack of service info, oil changeing is a mess.

SLT is certainly easy to use but, will have to get used to the hydro trans; previously used only gear driven garden tractors. Other than mowing the lawn, I believe the 1550 with the hydro wouldn't do much more.

Pros: Comfy, nice ride, "signature" cut on the lawns.
Cons: Terrible oil change plug.

The SLT 1550 runs excellent, 25 hp Kohler engine. Mower never misses, numerous height adjustments from the drivers seat (which is very comfy with the two arm rests). Luckily, I have plenty of time spent working on garden and lawn tractors. Without hands on experience I might have given up, dealer knowledge is lacking. I don't like the oil drain valve. A pain. Owners manual doesn't explain the drain valve operation. The owners manual misses "much". I often refer to the parts manual which is a great help. Need both if you're intending to service the Cub yourself. Before retirement, I had numerous Wheelhorse garden tractors; tillers, plows, sweepers, gang reels. Now, just relaxing while easily mowing with the SLT's 50" deck, a pleasure.

Pros: Build, reliability, performance.
Cons: Lack of "self-service" documentation.
