YM1700 Yanmar
Tough & Dependable
Model Year: 1979

When I was first looking for a small to medium tractor, I thought I had better get a 4x4 rig. While owning two ford tractors 8n/9n 50s model, I was seeing these ym1700s around here for sale. So, I looked at them, even though they were not 4x4s... And the price of the one I bought was indeed fair ($3200), w/ front end loader and bush hog. It had and still has the Rice-Patty tires on the back. This little tractor has totally amazed me by clearing some underbrush in thick woods and grading the land. It has only been stuck once, and that was my fault due to sandy soil and rain that I should not have been in anyway. Even though a 4x4 would be nice, this is more than enough tractor for me. It even handles a BH attachment on the 3-point. Drive slow and it will not buck you around. I would buy another just like it if one came around for a good price.

Pros: Work horse and more
Cons: None

YM1700 Yanmar
As Dependable as a Sledgehammer!
Model Year: 1975

As a veteran, farm boy, sailor I learned to always maintain my equipment. This tractor amazed me! with new AG tires it can't get enough traction to slow down the motor, just lifts the front end. I drag a 72" finish mower, but would trade it for a smaller one as it is too heavy for this tractor. I use a 4 ft. brush hog, 4' box blade, post hole digger, and middle buster plow, plenty of power for them. Good diesel oil, clean fuel, and checking fluids have given me 7 yrs. of trouble free use. Parts are great at Hoye Tractor, great prices and same day shipping too. I've never had to add oil, change it every fall. They offer great support also.

Pros: Dependable, runs all day on one tank, very well built, lots of power.
Cons: Must add overrunning PTO clutch!

YM1700 Yanmar
Old YM1700
Model Year: 0

I don't know that much about these I've had a few old MFs but this is my first Yanmar. It's a lot smaller than I'm used to but it doesn't mind working. I use it for mowing, disking, box blading and if I can find a tine shaft for my RS1200 tiller I'll try that too.

Pros: Runs really well.
Cons: Steering issues (again) worn out old tractor.
