Wow that sounds like a lot of rain to me, good news is no forest fire danger, bad news Santa might have to bring back Rudolf this year and Rudolf is a Unionized Reindeer, your Christmas present might cost more............Hang in there.
We just had a tornado hit nearby this afternoon. Unheard of around here. Started a thread on it... I cannot believe no one hurt!... Homes smashed by large evergreens. The local news is much worse than the aerial shots shown.

Small steps - back in post#410 I mentioned a greenhouse vent kit, which I subsequently ordered and got - then came a bunch of stuff, including building cut templates, etc - so today I finally remembered I hadn't ordered the OTHER THREE KITS yet (4 containers that need 'em) - bad idea these days, no guarantee I'd get the same exact thing if I waited too long. wouldn't be fun building 3 more install bezels only to find out they needed to be 1/4" bigger or smaller

Sooo, 3 MORE kits
Greenhouse Ventilation Package

(#1620) will get shipped out this afternoon, and they ARE the exact same

More important stuff - #1 Grandson just got a new guitar, he's comin' over with it :cool2: ...Steve

I bought the 16in louvered fan and a thermostat and had it running on auto for several years now to cool my wife's greenhouse. Works flawlessly (where is the wood) and moves plenty of air. Good place to buy stuff.

Also bought a bunch of replacement panels for the HF panels that started disintegrating from UV exposure. Still have more to replace. Hoping the originals will last the winter!

UPS delivered the 3 vent kits today, after just BARELY failing to destroy one of the 24" louver panels - 'bout a 3" object of some kind went thru the outer box containing 3 louvers, 3 controllers and 3 shutter motors (for the louvers) - same object pierced both layers of the 24x24x3" outer AND inner box the louver gets shipped in.

I took pics with my phone as I removed layers, and when I finally got the aluminum louver out I would estimate that the object (probably a fork) stopped maybe 1/4" short of either bending or tearing the aluminum frame...

Since the slats on the louvers need to pivot FREELY, I was all set to go thru the "fun" of filing a claim - guess both me AND UPS dodged THAT bullet

Also updated the floorplan sketch a bit, decided after using both containers separately that I wuz ALREADY tired of "out the door, step down, step up, in the other door" crap - so I figured out a reasonable way to incorporate the crane supports with a 7' wide pass-thru, move the steel rack away from the doors by about 10 feet, share ONE ventilation kit with BOTH containers, and (short term) eliminate any venting from the WINDWARD side container. Also simplifies conduit runs a bit for the electrical - (zoom in, should be readable) ContainerShop-2.jpg

'Bout it for now, still too cold for outside stuff to be fun... Steve

Orrrrrrrrr maybe the package was suppose to say Handle with care, but the new hired blond at the factory thought that didn't make since and wrote Handle with forklift, so by the time the package got to Amazon's warehouse, all that was readable legible was Handle with fork----, so the new hired blond at Amazon used a fork, a result of you almost getting forked.......... Or mice are now using forks.................. How many fires you got going anyways????????:fiery:

Liberty, ME 1-Day Forecast | Weather Underground

Good news is we got plenty of nice dry firewood, Netflix/Prime/Hulu fer the teevee, the Outback's all wheel drive (in case this is a "snow year", we're both "retired" and usually only need to go to town 'bout every couple weeks - plus, weather's 'sposed to warm up 10-15 degrees in the next couple days; so once I get some of my messes tucked away a bit I'll probly get back into those ventilation fan mounts... Sorry for the delay - wasn't intentional, my old WinXP computer finally bit the big one - and one of the many projects I SHOULD have stayed up on (proper EXTERNAL backups) got ignored for 'WAY too long  - end result may end up in the loss of nearly everything I've saved over the last 6-7 YEARS...

Here's a post I did on one of the other boards I follow; wouldn't mind any helpful suggestions to recover stuff off the dead hard drive, just in case I haven't already tried 'em...

"ordered this
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It got here yesterday afternoon - opened up the boxoroks, pulled the drive cage out. It holds the original boot drive and a 76 gig 10Krpm WD drive, makes it easy to work on. Just set it on the desk, hooked up the converter kit, plugged it into one of the USB's on my Win7 laptop...

The boot drive powers up, Win7 chews on it for several minutes, then tells me "Drive F needs to be formatted; do you wanna??!?"

Bein' nearly as ugly as Rodney Dangerfield (but slightly more active) I sought a second opinion, so moved the adapter box over to the NON-boot drive - It has only video rendering files from Vegas video, but they all show up just fine on explorer - yay that, boo on the boot drive

Thing is, the boot drive was still SORTA working when I last turned the machine off, so I'm wondering if I managed to drive more dust IN to the drive when I blew it out (gently, from about 2' away) -

It's been awhile since I vowed only to USE computers instead of workin' on 'em, but it seems to me like the above symptoms would indicate a screwed up FAT -

This FUBAR did NOT go un-heeded, I vowed to follow the several pieces of good advice listed here, already have a 256 gig SD card in its slot in the laptop for any and all(or none) info I can salvage, and ALL FUTURE goodies, plus I have about a half dozen 300 gig USB/Firewire drives that're empty; bought when I was still doing safety vids for my company.

Plan is to back up everything in the MyDocs folder (where I put EVERYTHING I think's worth saving) - I'm thinking at least two SETS of drives, alternate for each backup, at least once a month, plus a memory card backup..."

Also - "XP home, with SP3 - but unfortunately, I've tried every single option you get by using the F8 key, and they ALL end up in a BSOD with ZERO options other than turning the machine off.

This is also one of those "we saved a few bucks by NOT giving you an operating system disk" things, so IIRC I don't even have any kind of a "rescue" disk, otherwise I MIGHT be able to just replace the bad drive and transfer things to the replacement - I'll take another look for that option manana, it's past bedtime for now.

I've got a NIB Dell Win10 machine I need to set up and I'll likely end up starting over with that as far as replacing at least SOME of the info that's on the old drive, then once that's working (minus bloat/spyware) I'll spend more time trying to coax the bad drive into giving up whatever I can; I'm just hoping someone who's already been there might have some insight I haven't considered yet"

Oh, and during all the above, my woodstove door gaskets decided they were too tired to work anymore (naturally, this was when outside temps were in the 20's  - yeah, I know; nuthin' compared to what the REST of the country is dealing with, but STILL needed my attention)

At least, the dog did NOT eat my homework

Still "planning", God's still LAUGHING... Steve

DO NOT toss out the WinXP computer. Pull the Hard drive out and place it in one of these ...
Thermaltake BlacX N28USU External Hard Drive SATA Enclosure Docking Station 2.5" & 3.5" USB 2. - Newegg.com

Then copy the contents to another computer. This is a USB cradle hard drive docking unit. One can take SATA drives from full size machines down to laptops and retrieve the data. ALSO, it works the other way. You can then get a 1-TB or larger dependable drive and back EVERYTHING to it.

When all this is setup (easy), place a reminder in your calendar every 3 months to backup the computers, that's 4X per year. Ideally, all that every needs backing up is the main folder under C: called USERS. This way, all user data for that home computer gets stored.

When my old eMachines died, I thought I had lost everything. Got the drive cradle and recovered 99% of it all. :) In over 15 years, I've not lost anything important. FYI, don't trust the clouds.

Thanks bmaverick, if you read the rest of my post I already did that - I checked BOTH HDD's with a similar "externalizer", worked fine on the NON boot drive and got ZILCH (other than an offer to format) on the BOOT drive. This REGARDLESS of which "F8" choice I make. The rest of previous post has more...

Also, I like the setup on the old machine well enough (3.3 gig processor, and I have chips to increase ram to 4 gigs) that (whether I can recover ANYTHING or not from the old drive) I'm considering a new bigger drive and paid Win10 OS and keeping it just as a surfer.

The NEW (still to be set up) win10 machine will be mainly video/audio production, with the 28" UHD monitor. Sound will be a newer Denon receiver, using 5 KRK passive monitors and sub. Video software may continue to be Vegas if Magix hasn't screwed it up too much since the takeover. Audio will probably be some of my existing multi-channel hardware if it's compatible with BandLab (formerly Cakewalk) Sonar. 'WAY more to research on THAT front... Steve
