Another newbie question.

Currently mounting a front blade on my tractor. During the process, I realized that putting the joy sticks (dual spool valve) on the right side of the tractor would mean putting it farther to the nose than I wanted it. The reason is, if on the right side, it's almost on top of the throttle and if placed within comfortable reach would interfere with the throttle. I don't want to have to reach way out there (forward) so, I've elected to route the hydraulic hoses to the left side and mount the spool valve joy sticks there. Far enough forward to not interfere with getting on or off but within comfortable reach. My biggest concern is that I'm right handed. :confused2: I used to be a helicopter test pilot and have flown with the cyclic stick in my left hand but, would never try to hover that way. That may not make much sense to someone who hasn't tried this but, I assure you, the dominate hand has skills the other one doesn't have.

Curious if anyone else has an opinion about this before I finish the installation?

Usually the valve is mounted on the right so you can steer with left hand, run the throttle, three point hitch, and or loader valve with the right. If it doesn't bother you switching hands do do those things then it would work mounting on the left.

I would personally find a way to mount it on the right using a longer handle or below the seat/floor like my 4400. The hydraulic supply and return is also on the right so it cuts down hose lengths.

Yep, I know. The throttle on the Ford 1210 is located on the right. Just about where one would want the joy sticks to be. Looking at options. Nothing located on the left side, that's why I'm considering that option. No room below the throttle but, will consider mounting other locations on the right side. My tractor is a compact, so there's not a lot of room for extra stuff. Thanks for the response, appreciate the feedback.

Use cables to a joystick and mount valve where you can.

understand the dominant hand. learned to fly in a cub with right hand on the stick, left on throttle. switching to cessna is a relearn

I really like the idea of putting it under the floorboards or some other place out of the way, and running a linkage.

Another option is to turn the valve bank to some other angle other than flat and add a linkage to it directly (can be as simple as changing levers from the typical perpendicular to in-line with the axis of the spools).

I made a bracket to hold the double spool valve and bolted it to the ROPS. It could also be fender mounted if you have room.

I ran the hoses to the rear and plumbed them up to QR connectors to use as rear remotes. I ran hoses under the floorboard and up forward to control implement cylinders.

I have a Mahindra 1538 and added my own remotes. Currently have it plumbed to flat face couplers up front for my grapple but made provisions to put a set on the rear for something that I don稚 have yet. I built a bracket that clamps to the ROPS for the valve and routed all the hoses down beside the seat and along the hard lines to the hydraulic block. Attached is a couple photos. I am using it as is for a while but may play with modifications to the handle to change position relative to my loader joystick at some point. Lots of options. 86F4A0A5-D333-43A9-84B8-1991038F293B.jpegDE3C7124-0E52-4F1C-B591-32C283D1626A.jpeg

Fender mounting isn't an option, just don't have the room there but, I hadn't considered mounting on the ROPS. Will look into that option.

Thanks. As I always say, you never know if you don't ask. :drink:
