I was looking for a skid plate solution for my M6040 for a while and I would like to thank Rustyiron for his photos and ideas. In return, I am posting the results of my handiwork.
My goal was to provide bottom side protection for the tractor as well as add weight to the back as the loader can lift more than the tractor should allow. I also wanted to re-do the step and, above all, make a spot for the chainsaws and tools i.e. a removable toolbox.
Here are a few photos. I can post more if there is a need, or please let me know if anyone has any specific questions where I can be of assistance.
Skid plate is 3 pieces of 3/8 x 12" flat bar
2X2 tubing for front, center and rear frame
1 3/4 tubing inserted for the toolbox and step
Extra scrap steel weight added where space allowed
toolbox is 12" x 24" x 10" high, and keeps my saws where I can see them.
