How bad is bad?

This is BAD. Dirty, rusty, water and open to the air. Additionally there's diesel and 2-cycle oil in there as well.

Back when gas was $1.50 a gallon, I didn't worry too much to leave the remants here and there. Now I'm sure to use every last drop.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I think I'll locate some place that can properly dispose of it.

My 1950 landscaping book says pour gasoline in the in the cracks in concrete walkways to keep the weeds down...

Oh, the book is Good Housekeeping approved!

Sounds like a good mixture to soak fence posts in if there is enough oil.

Theres energy there that you could have, but if you just burn it as waste you lose it. Mix it with some good gas and use it in your lawnmower and other gasoline engines. Just dont store the diluted mix in the fuel system. - Run it out on the task then put a little fresh gas in behind it.

This idea is a good one. So is putting it in a pan and letting it evaporate. That's what I have done.

Pouring on the ground is not a good idea from a groundwater standpoint. Just imaging drinking it....and you likely would be dirinking at least some.

Send it to me. I have a waste motor oil heater and for years have taken bad fuel. I mix it about one gal gas to 5 gal of motor oil and burn it in my oil burner. Never had a problem. As stated it works gook for weed killer and ant killer but the EPA dont like that. Probably dont like me mixing ilt with my oil either. But that is better than just letting it evaporate ilnto thin air aas that causes poulliton also with no benifit gained from it

Last time I had a couple gallons I spritzed it all around a good sized burn pile of old lumber and brush. It was damp so I thought everything would be fine. By the time I lit it I had a pretty good fuel air explosive on my hands. Blew me into the air, I landed in the manure pile. Almost knocked me unconscious because it sucked the air out of my lungs. Melted my nylon stocking cap to my head, burned my eyebrows and eyelashes off, lucky I wear glasses or I'd probably be blind. Had second degree burns on my face, visited all my friends in the emergency room, they know me. Oh yeah, the horses were so scared by the explosion they stampeded through a metal gate and bent it like a pretzel. Didn't even slow them up.

I'm no longer allowed to handle gasoline unless I have a permit from the wife. I've become a believer in taking it to the recycling center just to keep down my health insurance costs.

Wow! I've some close calls with gasoline in a burn barrel but nothing like that. That takes the cake!

Note that this was not bad gas, as in old, but instead fresh highly volatile gasoline, perhaps contaminated. Old gas loses volatility.

Old gas...?? I'd mix it with new gas and run it.. etc.

I found a 5g gas can early this year left over from 04/05 hurricane season ( don't know which).. I mixe dit at the rate of 25% old gas to 75% new gas and ran it all out in my farm CUV ( gas powered farm golf cart looking thing ). Fumes smelled just a bit, and maybee an imperceptable power difference.. other'n that.. i used all 5g of it this year with no problems..
