I have a slight high pitched whine in my tractor when I am pulling a disc. I can't tell if it is a gear noise. Anyone else notice this on an HST under load?

They have straight cut gears. All straight cut gears whine the nature of the beast.

i noticed that my new M5040 has a lot of transmission noise.

it runs and pulls good....

i just figured it was how it was.

maybe mine will get quieter as it "breaks in". :D it's only at 15 hours.

Hydrostatics whine. More load, the louder the whine. It just goes with the territory.

ALL the good HST's whine....the HSTC is quieter.... it's not complaining, just letting you know you are actually working the tractor:D

I thought my B7610 transmission was noisy when I first got it. Not sure if has gotten quieter or if I have become used to it.

Isn't the high load whine Kubotas automatic parking brake on sensor?
LOL, it sure is on my BX23 :D

When cold and setup for finish mowing my BX23's HST barely makes a peep but starts to let me know it's working it's behind off once it warms up.

Now with the BH & FEL on it'll ask for cheese to go along with it's cold whine :D

It varies under load also and is normal.

Perhaps it is just me, but the new 3 speed hydro used in the B2x20 series seems noticably quieter than other hydro's that I've used. I have only driven one with loader, and backhoe on, and didn't put any load on that one.

I did make that mistake and disc a couple rows with the parking brake on and yes it whines (noise) but I could not feel the tractor strain and I was in Med range in the rabit mode

Have some whine off my MX5000 using finish mover if I try to cut very tall and heavy grass. I usually go in 2.nd high for cutting with a 6' KIng Kutter finish mover. Just every so often I hear what I would call a high pitched whine, if the load is very high. Really don't think its good for the transmission, so I normally drop down to 2.nd Low if the grass is thick and heavy. Is this whine anything to worry about? I just don't want to tear my transmission up.

My 3030 has the same whine when under load. I'm due for my 50 hour service and was thinking of replacing the hydraulic fluid with SUDT. Do y'all think that would make a difference?????

I changed my L3130 to SUDT at the 50 hour service point and it quieted the HST significantly. I am rarely aware of a whine now and mostly under heavy load. It is still much quieter than before. I am coming up on the 400 hour point and will stay with SUDT.

Vernon:

Thanks for the info.....priced the SUDT yesterday......$125 for the 5gal pail, not too bad......it's roughly double UDT. The next fluid change isn't until 300 hours.....I'd hate to wait till then to try it. I think I will bite the bullit.

Thanks again..........

My observations have been similar to texbay. I really didn't notice the whine much until after I had my 50 hour service done and had the dealer use the Super UDT fluid. When I got it back I thought "wow, this is quieter than the last time I used it!" Maybe it would have gotten quieter anyway with regular UDT. I don't know. I just know I was pleased with the tractor getting quieter even though I really hadn't noticed the whine much (but I generally had the radio going in the cab).

Again......Great info! Everyone keep it coming!

Ob1 concurs with this same experience used AW32 = to UDT with 50 hour change, BX2230 started whining to the point I called Kubota Service engineering and was told it wouldn't hurt the pump but was source of noise, SUDT for me on all hydrostats I own.

I just got my B2620 back from its 50 hour service. The HST whines much more than it did before, when under load. I called the dealer that performed the service, to confirm that they used S-UDT as required in the owner's manual. They told me that they used Kubota Premium UDT, which they say is the only fluid which they can get from Kubota, and that the Kubota Premium UDT is in fact S-UDT. This makes no sense to me, if it was S-UDT then wouldn't the stuff be labelled that way? Does anyone know anything about the "Premium UDT"? I have a gallon of this stuff in my garage, and it does not say anything about being S-UDT.
