Got the little 25 gallon running. Wired it into the seat switch. Works well. It bounced off the forks on a bumpy hill. Works well on the slopes...

Why are your tread patterns reversed on your outside tires? Just curious.

The tread patterns get changed around everytime I swap a tire, and I swap out a tire a week it seems these days...

If you look the back tread is going the otherway...

At the moment I am trying to get the inside tread to be going forward, and all the tires the same (More skidsteer style tires) and the outside going backward (those are all balloon style). Figure those balloon style can be run very low on pressure and work better providing stiction and tippage control.. Then again. I love crack cocaine so who knows how right I really am on this...

I thought Meth was the drug of choice in those small timber towns.

I am in the film business. We like our sophisticated drugs even when we are in the sticks ;-)

This thread is getting weird.

Well, I guess that is why they call it the "Land of the fruits and nuts" ;~)

Interesting setup.

I'm still in the stalling, hoping for a great deal to show up in getting a sprayer catagory, so I don't know anything about them yet.

It looks like your driving over the chemicles after you spray them. Does this have any effect on the plants or your tires? It's not something that I think I'll do, but since I have some pallet forks and I'm leaning towards just about anything but a three point set up, you have me curious.

How much land can you do with 25 gallons? Do you have any comments on how the electric pump works? OK? No good?

Thanks
Eddie

Eddie, you always ask the best questions and have the best answers.

I wanted to build my own sprayer, but when I figured it all out I was only about $50 off buying new. I am not happy with 25 gallons at the moment, but in the long run it will be better to have than the 50 gallon. I think there are higher quality sprayers than the fimco but it was not worth the $ to me as well.

There are a bunch of downsides to having the sprayer out front. Yes, you drive over the chemicals, although I bet you probably do with a rear sprayer when you back up. I wear a respirator. No way around that one. You bring up a good point on what happens to the tires. Never thought of that. And you do "track" chemicals all over... I guess I could drive backwards.

I palletized the sprayer so it just goes on the forks. Did not secure it to the forks and dumped it first time out. Next stupid thing I did is that you don't want it too high (sprayer from the ground) but because this is the slope tractor I go wherever I want. Coming down off a steep slope and into a flat area dug the forks into the ground and, well, damage ensued.

I am not fond of the wand that comes with the sprayer. What I dislike is that when you do a straight stream (I am killing large blackberry meadows) it puts out a lot of fluid. I wish I could get a spray wand that kept the pressure / distance up but did not put out the volume of chemicals.

In putting the sprayer out front it took some thinking time to make sure the booms would fold back without colliding with the front tires.

But there are some serious advantages. I see exactly where I am spraying. I have what I consider fantastic control over all elements. I see the pressure guage, see my spray pattern and know where I am going. I like to keep the wand in the cab with me, and spot spray as I am boom spraying.

I wired the hole system up to a dash switch. Seem to work out quite well.

Any other questions? Happy to answer them...

Thanks for the info. I'm still in iffy land on what to buy because this is something that I plan on using twice a year for weeds. I might end up using it more once I get it, but that's another one of those mysteries of life that I'll deal with when it comes up.

Fimco seems to be the main brand for inexpensive sprayers. The high dollar ones are such a jump in price that it's hard to consider spending the money on one when the so called affordable sprayers are still so much money.

This will be the third winter that I go through hoping to find a deal in the classified. If I strike out again, then I'm out, and I'll just buy one.
