Snow Let's see your snow removal equipment

LBrown59, What are you the safety police? OMG earlier today I was running with scissors, then I ate lunch and went swimming right after that and I didn't wait an hour. I was also mowing my lawn today and didn't wear ear protection. LMAO

You know what I like about this forum, I like the great advice and great ideas from all the members. What I hate are people who constantly pick everything part, you shouldn't store gasoline and diesel in your garage, you shouldn't take your ROPs off, that plow is too small, that plow is too big.

As far as I am concerned its nobody's business where the heck you store things, if you take something off your tractor, put something on your tractor. We are all adults, we know the consequences. The original tag on this thread was "Let's see your snow removal equipment", it didn't say "Post your pictures, so other members can criticize you"

I apologize to the other good members for hijacking this thread for a moment to rant. But crap like that burns my butt! I think I will go out side now and remove every safety feature on my tractor and then post pictures of it in a special thread and all of the safety police on this forum can post away telling me how wrong I am. LMAO

When it really comes down to it I have found the attached item to be very good for snow removal. It requires a wait time in some places but does an amazing job and is very cost effective!

Hi Mentat30 - I'll venture 2-cents in defense of LB's first post about the fuel. TBN is a great place for tractor newbies and not-so-newbies to spread their experiences around. Sometimes a fuel storage comment like LB's is a gentle reminder even to us gray-beards that bad habits can bite us. Earlier this year I was going to build a detached fuel shed - but then I got into something else and never got back to it. For me the post was a good public service nudge.

Hey keving, I was noticing the Woods RM-990 in your M7040 pics. Fabulous machine. Noticed one of the belt covers was off ?? They don't fit very close at the center - I added some weather stripping to mine there to keep the grass out. And to bring this thread back to Snow Removal Equipment - I'll bet for light snows in your part of the country the RM-990 would clear it by just backing over it !! Take care, DickB

Weather stripping is a great idea. This pic is about a year old and this link explains why the top was off. All fixed now and I'm about to do the seasonal maintenance on the RM990 as we wrap up the mowing for this year! Or maybe I'll use it for snow removal!

Glad to hear you changed things.
I'm in the process of looking for a small shed or storage building for my diesel and gas .

That's what I did when I moved over to the new house. I have a 30'x50' pole building for workshop / tractor storage & a 8'x20' shed for storing fuel & other flamables.

Were the bolts loose but the pulleys still tight? Or were the pulleys loosening too? The spindle connection to the pulley is a split taper bushing - a precision way of maintaining concentricity - found on higher-quality rotating machinery. Once the bolts have been tightened to draw the pulley onto the tapered bushing, it will usually stay in place by friction. The bolts don't really have to do much - until they're used in the alternate holes to push the taper apart to disassemble it.
