I have a BX 1800. The oil filter the dealer has been providing me with for 4 years is 15853-32430. Sometimes it is black and sometimes it is a white Kubota one but always the same size. The last time I went in to get some filters they gave me filters that were much smaller with a HH code on them. I didn't notice the size difference til I got home (50 miles from the dealership). Has there been a change in the size of the oil filters for BXs? If so does that make them less effective? Are there better sources for high quality filters for our little pals?

Either size will work but i prefer the bigger one.

From what I have read about filters, size really doesn't matter. It's all in the construction. A well made tiny little filter can protect better and longer than a trash can size one that is poorly constructed. There was a good website that I found I think from a link in the fuel oil and lube section of these forums, where a guy compared a lot of filters and found some interesting things.

My dealer did the same thing to me. i had at least 2 different colors filter for my kubota and he assured its the right one for my BX24. But still i cant help but think why did my BX24 come with gray one and the replcement was white ? Couple times I had it in a cardboard bos and couple other times it was in a shrink wrap?!

Does anyone experienced this too ?

All the filters Ive gotten for the bx23 are the larger ones .
Gray /white in the box or shrink wrapped all were the same size.

I have noticed some of them had the ends that you can use the socket type filter wrench and others had the round ends that you have to use the strap type filters on.
I hate the round end tipe = makes changing filters a bigger chore!

L BROWN,
This is why i switched a couple oil changes ago to a NAPA filter. As you probably already know, the 23 filter isnt easy to get a wrench on,but a oil filter socket works slick. The Napa filter is a buck or two more than the KUBOTA filter ,but it takes seconds to remove,or install.

The last few kubota filters I have gotten lately have been the
oil filter socket type for both the engine and tranny.

I've had my BX for almost 7 years, nearly as long as they've been manufactured and as I recall all the filters in those first 2-3 years were all gray. Then the white ones showed up. At the time, it was stated that the gray ones were made on Japan and the whites ones in the US. I've used both but switched to a WIX filter about 4-5 years ago, more convienent for me.

I've had a G1800 since 1995 and the oil filters have always been white with Kabota written on the side. I just bough a new filter and it's quite a bit smaller than the old one. I also went back to the dealer who told me the new G1800 oil filters are smaller. It may be an "across the line" change to go to smaller oil filters.

Is there a cross reference I can check to compare Kobota filters with Fram, Wix etc?
