Picked it up last night and just had time to ride around the meadow before it got dark and cold. Thanks to the heated handgrips my hands were the only warm part of my body. So I parked it and spent the night going over the manual.

Today I rode up one of the trails in my woods and used the winch to pull a couple of smallish downed maples over to the trail, then cut them up with my Husky chainsaw. Then back home for the trailer and back to pick up the firewood. The weight of the trailer is about 320#, and there was probably another 350# of rock maple tossed in. I pulled it downhill in 4 LO because I was a little unsure of the quad's brakes handling a load that outweighed the quad itself, but those concerns were groundless. It did just fine, and had no trouble at all pulling the loaded trailer over fallen branches and jumbled boulders.

Attached (I hope) is a pic of my first load of firewood. Looks like I have a very nice rig for bringing in the winter wood supply. My only complaint is the OE tires are pretty poor in muck. They pulled the load, but tore up the trail a bit by spinning.

Congratulaions on your purchase. That is a good looking set up that I'm sure will serve your needs well.

Very nice machine. When the 660 Grizzly first came out a friend of mine bought one. It was the first big bore ATV I had driven. They are unbelieveable. The ride is so smooth on those. Does yours have power steering. The heated hand grips sound nice. We have one young soldier in our unit here with us that is saving his money for a Grizzly when he gets back.

Thanks, Brent.

The 700 has just a tad more power than the 660, but a lot of refinements that make it an even better ride. One of them is power steering which seemed a little silly till I tried it. My wife, who is rather petite, can handle this quad with ease. And since it so effectively deadens impacts transmitted to the handlebars my shoulders are quite happy with it (shot in the shoulder during my service long ago).

Your Griz looks great. The blue color is cool.

I would be curious to know how well the EFI performs and how it starts in the cold. I have a Rhino and would like a little easier start on cold mornings. I am hoping Yamaha puts this platform into the Rhino next year.

My understanding is that won't happen until perhaps 2008. Yamaha still sells the Rhinos as fast as they can make them. They are in no hurry to make any change, although I think they would really benefit from EFI.

Awesome Grizzly!! I don't imagine you have much trouble pulling that trailer up hills! :)

Boondox,

Nice looking unit you have there. Did you already have the trailer? Looks like it may have greasable wheel bearings. Are you using the standard hitch that comes with the 700? By the looks of those trailer tires you won't see much damage even in those wet areas.

I agree with Dargo on the Rhino. They're selling like hotcakes so why change a thing (from a business standpoint). So far it hasn't got very cold here. 18F this morning and it fired right up. Still feels awkward reaching for the choke and not finding it, though! Same with the shift lever!

The trailer handles remarkably well on the end of that quad, but I definitely need some more aggressive tires. There are places in the woods where I'm spinning all four and making progress...but a lot of damage as well. Better grip would be a huge improvement.

Boon....You gotta get a set of Tatou 4S tracks for that beast......$3500 of unstoppable traction. I've got my eye on a new Grizz and a set of said track. Have heard and watched on youtube, nothing but amazing stories / images. There dudes actually skidding large logs in the winter. You need a set ;)
