I paid $1.249 for BP today.

Gas prices are $1.799 now down from over $400, the gas crisis is not over. The gas crisis just got worse.

Are you guys finding that the quality of the cheaper Petrol/gas is pretty crappy ? One of our supermarket servo's sells something that resembles Turpentine . I have told the wife not too fill there anymore as ive had to replace 2 Oxygen sensors in our car because of sooty deposits insulating the sensors . Other people have told me the same thing has happened to them . Our car also pings on Unleaded so now i either have to run Premium or 10% Ethanol blend and sacrafice economy just to get the octane rating up .

I wouldn't even know where to find gas that wasn't an ethanol blend. I haven't noticed any difference in the way the cars run, but they do get a little less gas mileage. I just recently had to have the oxygen sensor replaced in our 2001 Ford Windstar, but it's the first time it's been replaced and it had 99,729 miles on it.

I did wonder about gas quality. My truck does better lately going up hills and accelerating hard if I use mid grade. But is it the gas or the truck getting older. The Toyota shop recommends an engine flush and top end cleaning. Hard to know if it will make the truck run better or if the mechanic needs to make his boat payment. I am pretty sure that the ethanol lowers my gas mileage. I wonder if anyone has run the math to see if it is worth adding the stuff. I talked to a guy last week who claimed that Gulf stations sell pure gas but I haven't had a chance to check it out.

Local gas prices are still creeping down.

*Bulk diesel off road is at $2.14/gallon for min of 150 gallons.

*What's the off road price a gal for say 5 or 10 gallon.

I am pretty sure that the ethanol lowers my gas mileage. I wonder if anyone has run the math to see if it is worth adding the stuff. I talked to a guy last week who claimed that Gulf stations sell pure gas but I haven't had a chance to check it out.

We drove to Sydney last week , it's a 650 kilometre trip . I filled with straight Unleaded when we left and just made it to Sydney as the low fuel light came on . On our return i filled with 10% Ethanol blend and had no choice but to fill up again 80 kilometers from home . It's a coastal road all the way so it's nearly flat both ways and there was no noticable head/tailwind . Ethanol has a higher octane but it does not get the mileage , i do'nt know how that works . Someone may be able to explain it ?

That's exactly what's happening here. Prices for regular gas came down to $1.479 and $1.489 and held there for awhile. But then in the last 3 days, they've gone back up from $1.519 to $1.559.

Prices here have raised 21 cents per gallon over the past 2 days, from $1.249 to $1.459.
