Timm9 and DEWFPO and everybody else. anybody with a sb200 high flow motor package that works well in high flow??? i have an offer to trade in my like new 240 (number 8 motor package) for a new 200. i would need to pick one of 2 motor packages

1) 21-26gpm for dryer snow

2) 25-31gpm for wetter snow

i see timm9 has a 1463 fan motor - that part number is not listed in my dealers book. i see dewfpo has the 1464 motor. he is not happy with throw distance in high flow. i have a 240 which works good in low flow but does not throw far. anybody with a sb200 with a 8 (21-26) or 9.6 (25-31) that they are happy with??? i also can't figure out why a higher gpm motor would be better in wet snow? does it turn slower with more torque???

thx

My SB200 has the 1464 motor. I'm am moderately pleased with the casting distance under hi-flow. Somehow I don't think I'm going to get the casting distance I want until I get a S250 that'll do like 37GPM. That ain't gonna be soon. (Although tomorrow I am getting an A300 "loaner" from Bobcat to replace my dead TC until it gets fixed.)

Which fan motor is in your SB240?

DEWFPO

P.S. I wonder why the fan housing does not have a drain hole drilled into it like my other blowers. The fan was frozen solid today. I stalled the Toolcat 3 times trying to free it, no luck. Had to switch out to the blade while I defrosted it. I may be drilling a hole come spring.

i have the 8.0 motor package - i think that is the 21-26 but not for sure - would sure be nice if bobcat did not use a different number on the motor package vs the drive motors.

I answered my own question. I was able to dig in there and did find a hole, plugged by a big block of ice from behind. I guess I'm going to have to stick on one of those silicone heating pads for the winter to keep the bottom of the fan housing above 32F. You can't get at the bottom of the curved housing since it's boxed in but I can put the heater on the back of the housing above the hole. We'll see if that helps.

First time on forum. I have a sb200 on a s185, no hi flow, and I was looking at a 5600 2006 w/ hi flow that had a sb240. The dealers personal unit, and he said it would "blow" my unit away.WHEN I BOUGHT my machine new with I THOUGHT everything, Gold package nobody mentioned hi flow. Live in the mountains of Montana, and last week snow was deeper than blower. Told that I cant retro fit hi flow by 2 dealers. But everyone tells me the sb 240 outperforms the sb 200. Cost to trade in $20000. FOR SAME machine with hi flow, I would go to a s250 but then I need a new hoe. Figure for that price why not a new, used machine that goes faster, nice cab, etc. By the way DEWFPO I scoop fan area clean at end of day and that helps alot for freeze up

You might search and read some of the other posts. If I'm not mistaken, there are TC owners that are not overly excited about the performance of the TC/SB240 combination. When I purchased my TC's (both hi flow) I was told/warned by the dealer not to purchase the SB240. With that said, both of mine are B series and I believe that there were some changes in GPM's and pressure in the later series.

You might also contact the folks at Erskine. The Bobcat Blowers are actually Erskine's design and Bobcat ended up with the designs after purchasing the Erskine plant.

I'll echo everything timm9 said. I was also advised not to go with a SB240...and I have the "D" version of the Toolcat. Actual tests have shown that my unit will pump a hair over 30GPM @ 3KPSI and I still wouldn't go with an SB240.

I ended up with a BC SB200 but I purchased a slightly used Erskine ES2000 last summer. Very similar units except for the chute. IMHO, Erskine beat BC on that one. On the flip side, my BC unit's auger is heavier steel.

DO NOT FORGET TO CHECK INTO ELECTRICAL COMPATIBILITY if you get the Erskine. When I bought my TC that was an issue that required an auxiliary "box o' buttons" for chute rotation/elevation. It is my understanding that there is a much more streamlined solution now for Erskine/Q-A's.

Timm9, That has me curious that my dealer is running this set up, he also has 3 studs on each of his A4 tiers per tread, and says it works well. I am waiting to go for a ride in this set up when it is down at his shop next and we will take it out in the deep snow there. The sales manager says it throws the snow 40' easy.

Spud gunner, The offical site for Bobcat also shows a SB240 on a tool cat. What is the solution for 3' type drifted snow? It seems like the Toolcat is more user friendly for snow removal than a SS. Better visability, comfort, less cab noise and speed. Also less weight to haul to the job than a large frame SS.
